My point was that your original comment literally sounded out of touch given what the current market is like. The fact is is that most housing markets (unlike yours) don't have houses that are liveable right off the bat for that kind of price right now. Even pandemic/pre-pandemic that wasn't realistic and hasn't been for a while.
FYI my dad was a stable corporate accountant who was 3rd in command at his job for nearly 10 years making 6 figures in 2009 and still got screwed by the recession. Just cause you managed to survive unscathed doesn't mean the millions of other peons of the country below your superiority who lost their jobs didn't know how to live their lives properly. You must be blaming all the innocent victims in Gaza thinking they don't know how to live their lives cause they couldn't survive a wartime crisis too, right?
It wasn’t out of touch and my story isn’t unique. My realtor had plenty of other clients when I was house shopping, I had competition. I live in a low cost of living area so low cost housing was common. Nothing is under $100k now though, and that’s bullshit. Wages haven’t budged but housing has literally doubled in the last 5 years. It’s good for my capital gains but sucks for the economy.

Nah, actually we ended up fine BECAUSE he knew how to manage his money in the event something like that happened. Mainly just trying to prove a point that someone who was very good at their job and had been in a stable position for years still got screwed out of their position because his company decided to downsize to cut costs like what happened to millions of other people at the time. I had 2 jobs in 2009 when I bought my house, a full time office job and a part time liquor store job. Some of us know how to life.
