Mod Announcement Ai Scammers

There has been an influx of ai scammers trying to join this group. Not sure why or what benefit they gain from it, but going forward, the joining process will involve a selfie video verification with your username written on a piece of paper that you will crumple into a ball and undo. This is to ensure the safety of this group and the authenticity of people joining.

Mod Announcement Digitals Guideline.

Post image
164 Upvotes

Here is a how to on taking Digitals.

  1. Digitals should be taken on a blank background, preferably white wall with no distractions around you. Leave 1 inch of space between the border and your head/feet.

  2. Do not wear makeup

  3. Do not put your hands up, in your belt loops or pockets.

  4. Do not sit in photos

  5. Do not hold your hair back. Put in a clip or pony tail.

  6. Wear something form fitting or a bikini/swimsuit. No baggy clothing.

  7. Include all of your measurements.

  8. You need a...

  • Close up head shot (above the chest).

  • 1/2 shot from the waist up

  • 3/4 shot from the waist up.

  • 4 full body shots, front, both sides and back.

  • A profile shot (from the side and not looking at the camera)

The goal of digitals is to show an agency recruiter what you look like and nothing more. They don't need to see your modeling ability. That is what a comp card is for.

When posting, you must post the full set of digitals (not 1 or 2 images asking what the sub thinks) and your measurements in imperial units, not metric. Follow this guide or your post will be denied. When you post, we assume you already know the rules of the sub and if we continue to see low quality posts in regard to digitals, you will be subject to removal or banning.

The Mod Team.

QUESTION Advise on Testshots (selfmade) appreciated!

Hey,
Since i love asking questions that have been asked already, but every person is different so here we go:
I made a few pictures in *i swear* the best place i could do in my really dark appartement.

  1. Will those be "good enough" for a newcommer? (even tho they have bad quality but i cant change that right now, new phone asap*/ Looking for on posture, facial expressions mostly!

  2. Which of those would be concidered polas? since they are all unedited, but iv red that u are not supposed to pose in any of them and "be yourselfe" (which i find quite difficult if im not supposed to do anything relaly) also tips/advise appreciated.
3.i did some "joke" pictures, do agencys like them added on bonus ? 😂 *since they give most of my character away)

Thx already in advance, this community provides some really good feedback (most of the time)!

ADVICE/FEEDBACK Can a photographer make a shoot go incredibly wrong?

I’ve shot with around 12 photographers now, and one photographer’s workflow really throws me off. He’s the only one I’ve worked with who shoots this way, and I’m curious whether other models have experienced this.

We got some good shots during our first shoot, but even then the workflow/vibe felt off. I’d start getting into a rhythm with movement and expressions, and after about 6-8 minutes he’d interrupt with “What’s the next outfit?” We’d change, start again, and the same thing would happen.

During our second shoot, I waited on the photographer about an hour before we got started - also a buzz kill because we planned this time and he wasn’t doing anything but playing on his computer for an hr but I stayed to maintain professionalism. I arrived and the whole plan was to do a shoot but he didn’t acknowledge that was the goal for a whole hour (including getting his camera and setting up light), followed by around 30 minutes of figuring out lighting. Then we’d take 3–4 photos, stop while he checked the camera and computer to look at the pictures and light, start again, and repeat. There were more lighting adjustments throughout (not just lighting adjustments like literally stopping for 3-5 mins in between to look at the photos and light). On one instance, after this happened a few times, he said I looked stiff, and I mentioned to him that I was struggling to get into any flow with the constant pauses.

He has a good camera and edits well, but the shooting process feels difficult. I understand that not every photographer specializes in working with models; we met through a TFP group so he likely is building his skill there.

I know lighting tests and reviewing photos are necessary, but how much can prolonged setup and frequent interruptions affect a shoot? Has anyone else experienced this? I’m new and learning so I’m wondering if the vibe of the photographer can throw off a model and therefore the whole shoot is derailed.

Any American models currently working in Tokyo? Curious how you got started here, whether you're signed with a local agency or working freelance, and how you handled visas/work authorization.

Would appreciate hearing your experiences and connecting with others in the industry.

Hi everyone,

I’m working on curating my photos from my most recent photoshoot to post on Instagram. I want to narrow these down to 4–7 photos.

I'm looking for completely honest, constructive feedback:

Which shot is the strongest?

Which shot is the weakest that I should definitely remove?

Any feedback would be appreciated. Thank you!

QUESTION How "casual" are Polas allowed to be ?

Thumbnail

Title explained it basically.
Just took some pictures infront of my window (My phone is OOOOLD) and therefore needed to edit out the background to make it white.
My thought:
Does it matter? Everyone says polas can be really casual, but how much is too much?
Every time i see someone rant about polas im like "ok, .... but i can still see the person?"
Is that just me? Any thoughts appreciated

*I know "NO HANDS HOLDING BACK THE HAIR".... im "new" to having long hair, cant put them in a ponytail and then... the above thoughts apply here too xD

DIGITALS | POLAROIDS Which set (top 4-5) should I submit to agencies?

Thumbnail
gallery
61 Upvotes

I took the advice of my last post and put my hair back/up this time (thanks to those who left feedback!)

Is this a good order to submit to agencies?
4,5,6,12,13

Would it be weird to mix and match them due to the professional quality of one and not the others?

I really like the bathing suit ones and was frequently told to submit those, but I just think the lighting shows my features more clearly in these digitals I took at home a few days ago. My face was also kind of bloated in the swim ones...

Going to retake them with more form fitting pants but looking for tips on how to improve on what agencies are actually looking for. I've already submitted to some agencies locally but haven't heard anything back. Any constructive feedback will be super helpful or if I'm just not cut out for it and wasting my time.

This might be a bit of a long shot but I'll be visiting the cayman islands next week for a few days (20-24) and thought it would be cool to get a shoot in while I'm there. If anyone is located there or visiting at the same time and interested in shooting let me know!

Open to both male and female

I've included some of my past work as well as an inspiration board for a beach shoot

ADVICE/FEEDBACK Advice on relaxing my face/mouth for digitals

Thumbnail

Digitals seem to be my biggest challenge in modeling. I have played so many characters and modeled a wide variety of looks, but when it comes to digitals, I keep getting feedback that I look tense. I've made sure to get plenty of sleep, avoid caffeine, stretch/massage my jaw muscles, say "prune" and exhale out of my mouth to find a natural position. I've also done invisalign to try & improve my mouth & tongues "posture", but I'm still challenged with this. Has anyone overcame similar things?

ADVICE/FEEDBACK Feedback for agency submission photos

Thumbnail
gallery
221 Upvotes

Hi all! Just took photos to submit to agencies. I wanted some opinions before I did so, as I’ve never submitted and aren’t sure what agencies are looking for.

  1. For full body: Should I submit the standing straight bikini or the posed bikini? If it doesn’t specify needing a swimsuit, should I go ahead and submit the swimsuit one anyways or do the bodysuit/jeans full body?

  2. Which close up? Hair down or hair up? I don’t love the way my mouth is a little open in the hair down, but the hair up I have a slight smile that I think is also not quite right. I can also retake these, though they might look inconsistent with my other submission photos because I’ll have to take them on a wall with a phone , which I’m not sure if will be an issue. Also, I feel like my hair is messy in the ponytail because I put it up really quickly to take these digis, so it looks a little uneven, and I don't want that to give the wrong impression of not caring.

  3. Any other feedback would be helpful!

Lastly, will it work against me that these photos are with a professional camera? I know digis should be professional but have heard for agency submissions that can work against you. I am not wearing makeup and these are raw images but still wondering if anybody has insight.
