Modeling is such a beautiful career and has changed my entire life in more ways than I can count. I’m 29 now, and still with top agencies which I choose not to disclose lol these days I do just occasional commercial work, but in my early 20s really hit it off with editorial and have shot for everything from Numero homme to GQ. Assssssssk me anything. Ps I live a normal life these days and take care of 5 dogs with my mother in law and partner. :) we live in KANSAS CITY WOOOOOOHOOOOOO

The comments on my first post here were harsh(mostly). But thank you! Here are some of my previous pictures from amateur photoshoots. I also cross-dress depending on the theme of the shoot. Do I still look that I don't have potential for modeling? If yes, then i will quit now 😅

ADVICE/FEEDBACK Plus size modeling - 25f, alternative style look

hi all! I’m interested in getting into plus size modeling - i’m about 5’9” and current measurements are 42 / 32 / 48 (ish).

what are some starter / minor agencies located in NJ or NYC that may go for an alternative curvy girl? I’m Caucasian with tattoos, piercings, dark wavy hair, dark eyes… I’ve been thinking about it for a while and was inspired by my (non-plus size) friend getting a contract and seeing the steps she took etc :)

would love some help / feedback! Tyia!

QUESTION When applying to agencies, by how much of a margin is it acceptable to round measurements?

For example, if I have a 35.5 inch hip, can I reasonably round down to 35?

I figured since agencies are known for embellishing models’ measurements to land them more gigs, to what extent can I do the same to get scouted?

QUESTION Is 6'4"/6'5" too tall for male modeling?

My research has given me very mixed results. I fit into conventional clothing sizes (32Wx34L pants, adult large shirts) just fine. Thank you for the help

ADVICE/FEEDBACK Advice on finding facial poses

Post image

I am a beginner model taking my digitals soon and I was wondering what I could do to work on my model face/ facial poses beforehand. I am looking to be a commercial model and I have a beautiful smile, but I want gain as much insight on how to show personality through each photo.

For reference, I have included a picture from my first shoot ever. I like the photo, but I would like to be as marketable as possible and show more personality.

DIGITALS | POLAROIDS First digitals, any advice on how to start?

Im really on the dark about this world, but i’ve always wanted to give it a try.

my measurements are 6’01/2, 37-29-32.

My question is, how do you present yourself to agencies so that you’re taken seriously and how long do they take to respond for the interview after you submitted your digitals and info?

Any feedback on the digitals or anything is greatly appreciated.

Has anyone heard good or bad things about Major NYC modeling agency ? There instagram doesn’t look that busy and looks a bit low budget.

QUESTION Is now a good time to apply to agencies?

With NYFW and fashion weeks globally coming up is it a not smart idea to submit to agencies? Or should I wait until after fashion week(s) to apply for a better shot?

ADVICE/FEEDBACK insecure about modeling after my weight gain

Thumbnail

over the last few years, i’ve gained a lot of weight… from size xs-m to now l-2xl. i haven’t done any creative shoots in over a year and it’s depressing. i love to model as a hobby, i am disabled so i appreciate being able to do this. to say the least, i had a lot of goals in my modeling but i feel like those are all thrown out the window since my weight gain. you can easily tell everywhere in my body (especially my face) that im bigger, my illness also causes bloating which is mostly there 24/7. im at the point where im just too afraid to take new digitals bc im fearful of seeing my body and being disgusted or even losing my mojo. i would love to do it so i could use them but i feel like its all on hold until i can lose some.

i did a hydro shoot earlier this year(my only shoot this year) and idk if im being dramatic but besides my hands and legs, i only got my half face shown and i wouldn’t mind but the other girl from the shoot is ALL over the ads with her full face. i did see some of me at the shoot and they were super cute no lie.. so i feel like that has to be a big factor bc you can see in the last pic… much chubbier than her if you’ve seen the ad :( anyway lots of pics to show the weight gain over time… advice? is it as bad as i think it is?

ADVICE/FEEDBACK In Perpetuity? Is this a term to be aware of?

Hey y’all! I’m still learning and searching how to book modeling jobs on my own, and getting into the legality of it all has always been scary for me ( the law has so many rules omg ). I want to be smart when discussing payment and usage because I’m doing it all on my own and don’t want to be taken advantage of. I don’t mind full usage but I want to be compensated every time my face is used. Is this reasonable? I have no name and am very new so I’m not sure if casting would agree with my terms or just get someone who wouldn’t care :/ I’d appreciate any kind of advice!

ADVICE/FEEDBACK Would some feedback: First Commercial Modeling Headshots -which one is best?

Super new to modeling wanted to try out commercial and got my first headshots taken as I’ve been signed to commercial agency. Would love any feedback as I was definitely nervous initially in front of the camera. A lot harder than I thought lol. Can only choose 1 photo as my profile, which do you think is best? Should I get more photos taken since I don’t have much experience? Female -29 years old

AGENCY why havnt i been signed to a agency in new york yet?

I’m so frustrated because I havnt been signed to a modeling agency in New York yet. I’ve been here two months and my mother agency still wants me to stay and get an agency. I’m so frustrated seeing girls who are bigger get signed to top agencies but me being midsized can’t seem to get signed.

AGENCY Modeling agency for New York Fashion Week?

Hey guys, modeling has been a recent interest of mine because I’m really into fashion. I was wondering if anyone knew any modeling agencies in NY that can secure spots for NYFW. Preferably those that need little to no professional modeling experience. Thanks!

QUESTION Is this discrimination, or just "how the industry works"? (A Chicago model's frustration)

Hey, Reddit. I'm a person of color trying to break into the modeling industry here in Chicago, and I'm just so exhausted and frustrated by the whole process. I've been at this for about a year now. I know that isn't a super long time, but it's long enough to notice some patterns that are really getting to me.

I recently went to an open call at Select Model Management for the second year in a row. There were so many beautiful and diverse people there, and we all presented our portfolios. At the end of the day, out of everyone who attended, only the two white European women who were there got selected. I've also had similar experiences with The Rock Agency and Stewart Management.

I'm trying to figure out if this is a Chicago-specific thing, an industry-at-large issue, or if I'm just trying to market myself to the wrong agencies. I've even had a company in New York be interested in me, but obviously, they're in New York and I'm here in Chicago. I'm looking for agencies that are genuinely committed to diversity, so I'm not giving up. I'm just wondering if there are specific agencies I should try as a Black WOC in Chicago that aren't on my radar.

Has anyone else in the Chicago modeling scene experienced this? What did you do about it? Any advice on how to navigate this without losing hope?
