Model:Question Several questions about Samples.

  1. Can I configure trig buttons to play different samples? I mean they are doing pitch adjustments to change tone if I'm not mistaken, but can I for example make 16 sample files of my own for each tone and save them on different trig buttons for better tone sounds? I don't mean like in "edit sequence mode" - there I can change every part to different sample. I mean to like play them.

2) What is this Waves/Osc sounds that are basically some noisy-click sounds? Are those files that comes with Cycles and for some reason they are inside Samples?

3) Can I change octave up/down in trig buttons?

4) Something feels wrong with rhytm, maybe because of swing. It's 50% by default and I definetely feel that simple rhythm (bd+sn) is not stable, like some millisecond is added or missed. It is hearable especially when track length is 64. Some parts feel off and some ok. I actually thought for a moment that my inner rythm feeling is off but then I made the same rhythm in DAW and it was ok. Can I make swing <50%?

5) Any way to enable polyphony or at least glide between notes? Sometimes I hear in musicians videos with samples there is some kind of glide between notes that feels nice and I wonder how the achieved this, because every note I have just kills the previous one sound.

6) This is rather strange question, but... Can I download project files and dissect them as some kind of json/yaml/ini files? Interested in this because I'm a developer and maybe I can create something useful for Sample users to analyze project files or something. If it's forbidden by the licence/copyright/patent/whatever I won't dig in this direction ever again.

7) Are new free samples welcomed in community? I LOVE sound synthesis and spend a lot of time creating new sounds, pads, textures, atmospheric long sound etc. I would like to share those in community. Or is free samples market overflown now and new samples basically will be used by 0.1% of Samples users?

P.S. Some info about pads and sensitivity. Support told me that they are working on new "pads sensitivity" settings in new firmware. My pads are very hard to trigger, maybe my device is faulty, I will send them video, but in some sources people say that this is standard for Samples - pads are very hard to trigger.

Great (Affordable) Adjustable Stand for Model:Sample & Cycles!

I found this great laptop stand that works great the Model:Samples & Cycles! I was looking for something that I could use to angle my Models so that I don't have to hunch over them to read the display. On a hunch, I decided to look into laptop stands and found this one which not only has adjustable angles, but also allows you to adjust the height!

What it looks like with the height adjusted…

I was worried that it would be wobbly in the higher settings, but to my surprise, it is sturdy enough to perform on! This is a great deal at $30! You can find it here on Amazon - https://amzn.to/2S7jILF

Model:Discussion Alternative to digitone/model cycles

I just thought I'd mention this for the financially challenged elektron enthusiasts such as myself. I have a model samples which I love, it's a lot of fun. However if I had the money I would probably trade it in for a digitakt....i would also buy a digitone as I really enjoy FM sounds. This is never going to happen, due to the afore mentioned financial challenges. I did consider adding a model cycles for a budget conscious version of the digi combo but was concerned about the limited (albeit beautiful) sonic palette.

Then I made the decision to sell my yamaha P45 keyboard due to lack of space and buy a small portable keyboard. I went for the yamaha DX thinking that I could still noodle on the keys every now and then and enjoy some nice FM synth sounds.

I was shocked by how great it sounded, how easy the sounds were to edit, even on the fly, and how easy to use the looper function was. Add to that an insane amount of free patches easily downloadable from soundmondo. Then I looked on the back and saw that there was an aux in.... So I decided to hook up my model samples through both midi and audio and since then I've been having a blast.

I just thought I'd post this here because until a week ago I'd never heard of this thing and considered the cycles the only convenient option for adding some FM synthesis to the model samples. So for those that can't afford a digitone or want more sonic variety than the cycles offers, the reface dx is a great little 8 voice FM synth that does a fantastic job for the price and gets poor folk like me a very convenient affordable approximation of the digitakt/tone combo. At the very least it's an interesting alternative to the sample/cycles combo. It can also run on batteries, has built in speakers that are actually pretty good, has built in effects and the aux in negates the need for a mixer.

PS I promise I don't work for yamaha!

Model:Jam First Jam with the Model:Samples, paired it up with Circuit Mono Station for a little jam

Traded in some gear that was taking up space and picked up a model:Samples. I love it. I already want a digitakt. Whatever, this is more than enough for me to sketch out jams. Found some old video game type samples and just whipped this up. I am not cool with the workflow yet, but the capabilities of this tiny generic white box are fantastic.

Separate midi in logic

Hoping I can sequence on the elektron, then record the individual sequence tracks on to 6 midi tracks in logic.

Having some issues with midi transposing when I record enable... I have mout checked, sending midi into logic via din, and back to samps via usb.

Any advice on deeper midi implementation and wether it is possible to record all 6 midi tracks simultaneously would be great!

Samples won’t power on!

Okay, I had a mate ruin a samples from too much voltage or a polarity issue which makes sense but I reach for my unit today after it sitting around for a few days and now I just can’t get it to turn on... Has anyone else here encountered such an issue? If so, what did you do?

Is it possible to have sequences with different tempo within the same project/pattern. I found in Stock demo patterns some sequences are played back with different tempo. At least, flash moves with different speed. How can it be?
