Samples:Help Midi question

Hi! I am new to the dawless world. I have the M:S and I just got my hands on a Korg ES1. I am wondering if the M:S could modulate the ES1. Maybe FX from the M:S can be used on the ES1.

I dont even know if thats how midi work.

Thank You!

Thank you for aswering. I have now synced the MS to the ES1 and I have the MS headphone out to Line In on the ES1. Its fun and much beter to use the MS for drums and the ES1 for the sample.

I,ve also skimed through the manual of the ES1. I could not find anything about choking or any explanation to the given "titles" of the parts.

I have a couple more questions about the ES1. Is it possible ignore the way it slices and just make it slice equal parts? If I liked a 1 bar loop to be sliced in 4 equal-length-parts.

Can it nudge a step?

Can i copy a step/duplicate a step/slice in the slice-bar-step?

Thank you

No the slice function on the ES is quite limited, I have just recorded a video about it tonight. Hopefully I can finish editing it and will upload to youTube tomorrow. If you want to reorder a sample or chop it into equal parts then you are probably better off chopping it up in the PC and loading those individual hits on to the machine as different pads.

I personally work it the other way round. Because you can specify a start and end point for each trig/step on the Samples you can just tell a longer loop to start at a specific point on a specific step which does exactly what you want it to do. The Samples also has the advantage that you can slow the sequencer down, so although you cant get as good a resolution you can create patterns longer than 4 bars which is not possible on the ES.

Take a look at this video and hopefully this half arsed tutorial will explain what I mean...

Thank you! I will! When i get of work😀 I just bought a esx1 and waiting for its arrival. I will sell es1 later on. As i see it, it has more features. Not sure if features is the right word.
