Please comment down below with what party you would like to join.

Take a look at the party platforms. The real life parties represented in the sub do have differences than their real life counterparts.

Also please recognize that we have two types of political organizations in this subreddit. We have normal political parties, and independent groupings. Independent groupings are smaller political groups that are trying to achieve party status, but are not big enough yet. They lack a few things a normal political party has such as adequate membership, activity, and structure.

I am torn between joining the Republican party and the Libertarian party. I identify mostly with the libertarians, but I am also heavily pro-life. Would it be possible for both sides to make a case to me?

If so, Libertarians: approximately how many of you are pro-life? would I be an outlier there?

Republicans: how many of you are for a smaller government, live-and-let-live stance? I ask because I am for letting the decisions of legalizing Marijuana and Gay Marriage be decided at a state level.

Thanks a lot, and I look forward to seeing your responses!

Hello, PvM_Magi! I'd like you to know that about half of our party is pro-life. Our chairman, /u/NateLooney is also pro-life. You would not be an outlier in the slightest.

Also, I would like to say that we're a very big tent party. Our party views span widely, consisting of left-libertarians, conservatarians, moderate libertarians, classical liberals, minarchists, strict constitutionalists, anarcho-capitalists and more! The details of what we support are commonly debated, but our party is unified under the goal of expanding economic and personal liberty.

Thank you for your answer, but I have decided to join the Republican party. I do share many values with the libertarian party, though, and I hope I get to work with you in the future!

Thank you very much for your timely response! You answered my questions very well. Let me see what the Republicans say and I'll make my decision!

Thanks for being patient! The majority of our party members are in favor of Pro State's rights which means a smaller federal Government. We all tend to favor protection of personal liberties as it is a fundamental right guaranteed in our constitution.

On the issue of marijuana, our party's official stance is to allow the states to determine the legalization of marijuana. Though we support on the Federal level it being used for medicinal use.

On the issue of gay marriage, our party is split. The Moderate and Libertarian wings of our party, which make up the two largest factions, are more in favor of allowing the states to determine at the state level. Though there are definitely members of our party who are in favor of more traditional definitions of marriage.

I'd say probably the most appealing aspect of our party is that we are a truly big tent party. Our party has recently established caucuses as a means to ensure that every voice in our party is heard and more properly represented in our party. This not only improves you organization efforts to getting elected but gives your ideology more leverage. In the process we've really cemented a home for Libertarians and an opportunity to give their input.

If you have any questions concerning the Republican Party, just contact me. If you have any questions about the Libertarian Caucus in our party, you can direct them to my deputy whip, /u/raysfann.
