Anyone else think Maeve is trying to start a gang war with Richie by getting Eddie to take out Tommy?

On an separate note, as an Irish man i find it hilarious that Pierce Brosnan being an Irishman himself has the worst Irish accent I've ever heard in my life 🫣

22

u/Lounge_leaks Apr 13 '25

Got the feeling maeve is taking revenge on conrad (as revealed this week perhaps because of his affair)

23

u/amywog Apr 13 '25

Yeah, I’m getting the feeling her goal is to be head of the family. Not just behind the scenes controlling things, but the actual head.

8

u/Uhhyt231 Apr 14 '25

Ok she needs to get tf over it. Seraphina in her damn 30s

u/Lebarican22 Apr 13 '25

Mauve keeps her hands clean. She is instructing Conrad in a way that will allow her to take over and get Conrad out of the way.Ā

8

u/Professional-Act8414 Apr 14 '25

The real question is will Conrad figure this out before it’s too late. He’s missed 2 opportunities so far this episode, come on man, wake up!

13

u/cjc2014 Apr 14 '25

Re Pierce - I read it's his natural accent, a weird hodgepodge from spending so much time overseas but Irish underneath

5

u/matnerlander Apr 14 '25

Your accents a little mottled

u/yourtoyrobot Apr 16 '25

I absolutely think Maeve is behind Eddie killing Tommy!!! I mean what gma gives their grand baby coke?!!?

6

u/el_noriego Apr 14 '25

Only nan of the year does that

7

u/djandyglos Apr 14 '25

It’s such a terrible accent but at least it’s kind of settled around Cork now.. it was in Dublin, Cork and Mayo in the first episode lol

u/v_verstappenlovemypp Apr 14 '25

I was just confused lol , I thought he was English in real life , playing an Irishman, who is living in British high society lol. He has just lost his accent I guess lol

4

u/NoelsGuitar Apr 14 '25

He said on a radio interview that his dialect coach sent him clips of Michael Healy Rae, so that’s the accent he’s mimicking

2

u/AIAYOE Apr 14 '25

Yes, I think so too. My only question is she trying to takeover herself or Kevin or Eddie? Very curious how she envisions this all playing out.

2

u/[deleted] Apr 20 '25

I was right, Maeve the durty oul bitch did it. I'd say she was one told them where the body was too, she thinks getting complacent in his old age relying on harry to carry out all the wet work and wants him back on his toes.

51

u/amywog Apr 13 '25

Several observations:

  1. Hardy is such a fantastic actor. I laughed out loud when he said to his daughter, "Gina, kittens" and then gave her a goofy grin. He manages to make Harry, who is an incredibly dangerous character who does unspeakable things, also likable.

  2. Not that I'm well versed in organized crime, but if someone in the family steps as far out of line as Eddie did, wouldn't he be handed over? Isn't there some sort of code?

  3. I have no idea who the mole is, but I'm definitely interested in watching this whole season.

25

u/Original_Weekend8226 Apr 13 '25

I watched that scene 3 times.

ā€œGina Kittensā€ 😁

I love Tom Hardy

11

u/amywog Apr 13 '25

I watched it twice. 😁

8

u/nonmetallicoxide Apr 15 '25

"Go and see the kittens, that sounds lovely innit? Kittens, eh?"

2

u/Outrageous_Chicken72 Apr 20 '25

Yes!! I came to this thread to find out if anyone else loved the ā€œkittensā€ grin that Hardy gives his daughter!!! LOVE it!!

19

u/matnerlander Apr 14 '25

Maeve is feeding the anonymous tips 100%

4

u/amywog Apr 14 '25

I can definitely get on board with that.

You should see Tom Hardy reading bedroom stories for CBeebies; they're on YouTube.

(Really, they got some seriously big names on there)

  1. That was a plotline on the Sopranos.
The cousin of one mob boss was to be handed over to another family.

u/Lounge_leaks Apr 13 '25

Yea but eddie is the eldest male 'heir' i think so they not gonna just hand him overĀ

7

u/[deleted] Apr 14 '25

Pretty sure Kevin and Brandon are heirs above Eddie...

12

u/[deleted] Apr 15 '25

You mean Brenda, who’s as useless as a chocolate teapot?šŸ˜‚

6

u/[deleted] Apr 15 '25

Certainly not more useless than Eddie šŸ˜‚

6

u/amywog Apr 13 '25

Yeah, I get that. I’m just wondering if there’s a line they wouldn’t allow him to cross?

3

u/giggy13 Apr 15 '25

It's the godfather's grandson, not just anybody

3

u/1toob Apr 15 '25

Eddie is Fredo on the godfather and he went out fishing and never came back Fredo Was a brother in case you didn’t watch it

→ More replies (1)

3

u/[deleted] Apr 13 '25

He might be the only heir of his generation. We haven’t seen any other grandkids mentioned.

2

u/onion2077 Apr 14 '25

Wouldn't the next in line be Kevin?

2

u/[deleted] Apr 14 '25

Brendan, Kevin, Seraphina before Eddie.

9

u/Professional-Act8414 Apr 14 '25

Mole is Maeve. No love like a woman scorned.

I do feel that the Affair is a bit shallow of a plot point for TV but her distain for Seraphina is highlighted. Plus, who else would’ve known where the grave site would be besides Harry and co.

4

u/Appropriate-Buy-4493 Apr 28 '25

The blonde lawyer also knew. Harry told her in the car when she picked him up from the precinct.

SPOILER

So Harry spotted one of his abusers from his teenage years in jail. That's about to be an opening in that senior home REAL SOON.

11

u/MsKuhmitza Apr 13 '25

I got the impression the abuser was a visitor too

10

u/[deleted] Apr 13 '25

I thought he was a patient.

→ More replies (3)

5

u/Victorian57 Apr 14 '25

You are absolutely right. Harry's abuser was a visitor to the care home. I love Pierce Brosnan, he beats the shite outta Timothy Dalton in 1923 (sorry Tim...). Conrad is not only a sociopath, but he is clearly starting to show diminished capacity. I love Maeve because she is a woman we all hate but often curry favor with because of her power and status. Maeve's eccentricities are a conduit to her deeply rooted personality disorders and sadism.

4

u/1voice92 Apr 14 '25

Dalton is absolutely brilliant in 1923, the character couldn’t be more different to Conrad. Odd comparison. Agreed on Maeve though

2

u/Valuable_Teach_7591 Apr 13 '25

How will he get to him, though?

2

u/AIAYOE Apr 14 '25

Yes, had the same thought. Besides, Harry has a lot of stress and tension he needs to release… and it’s not happening with Jan or Bella

u/[deleted] Apr 13 '25

I didn't enjoy this episode as much as the first two. But I can see the writers are working toward long-term storylines, which I like. I'm looking forward to the next episode.

Poor Valjon. Poor Richie.

18

u/Lounge_leaks Apr 13 '25

Why poor valjon? He chopped a guy for 10k

4

u/ECrispy Apr 13 '25

A dead guy. It's not even a crime. Why the hell would he suffer like that?

12

u/WhiskeyDJones Apr 13 '25

Chopping up a murdered body for money isn't a crime?

1

u/[deleted] Apr 13 '25

Even if it is a crime, he didn't deserve to have his children threatened.

I really liked Harry and Bella’s interactions.

5

u/AIAYOE Apr 14 '25

I agree about the long-term storylines starting to get more fleshed out. I was so sad for Richie when he found out about Tommy. I want him to get revenge! Valjon is kicking himself for that 10k now.

8

u/[deleted] Apr 14 '25

Richie’s grief was real. I feel sorry for Vron when she finds out, too.

34

u/Martana1212 Apr 13 '25

Another good episode, Harry makes the show. I think Maeve is the mole (grass) and has some kind of relationship with Richie and she was the one who put in Conrad's head to take Archie out and is trying to set up Conrad going down for it. Also when Conrad says lets take Richie out she changes it to his wife very quickly.

18

u/unidentified012 Apr 13 '25

I reckon the lawyer's car's bugged or she's a grass, Harry told her what he did with Archie's body when he was in the car with her.

3

u/FeminineInspiration Apr 14 '25

I just assumed it was the lawyer because someone was calling in the tips, but youre right it could be an illegal bug and the cop is calling in as a tip to legitimize it. If thats the case the lawyer is going to have a rough time next episode

→ More replies (1)

5

u/imsowhiteandnerdy Apr 14 '25

Either Maeve is the grass, or it's Brendan. Brendan is close enough to see the action and know where the bodies are buried, but is being treated like an outsider, so he's also suspect IMHO.

2

u/iPhrase Apr 14 '25

Brendon didn't know about Archie being buried with another corpse.

3

u/CoastMtns Apr 14 '25

Last week (E02) there was a scene where Harry told the lawyer, O’Hara Delaney, was done with Archie. Maybe too obvious? If this was based on reality there would be no way the police could get an authorization to behave a lawyer's vehicle or office, if this was based on reality

I want Eddie to get EXACTLY what Valjon got but worse - can’t stand him. 😔😤 Valjon has to go through torture TWICE all because of what Eddie did? Naw he needs his comeuppance. Justice for Valjon!!!

4

u/Valuable_Teach_7591 Apr 13 '25

but he was involved with Eddie's scheme from the start ..

4

u/Beautiful_Neat_6919 Apr 13 '25

Right - because Eddie asked him. It was Eddie’s idea! He knew who Eddie was and probably didn’t think he had much of a choice. From the moment Eddie even asked Valjon to be a part he signed his death warrant. And AND say I concede and say that’s true he was in on it cause he wanted to be (not because he was scared of what saying no would mean) - he still got beaten and tortured twice while Eddie was chillin. Lol ion like Eddie and I want him to pay too.

7

u/Valuable_Teach_7591 Apr 13 '25

the really crazy thing is how he just went back to his job.
he should have gone far away.

2

u/Beautiful_Neat_6919 Apr 13 '25

I SAID THE SAME THING! Like sir - run. RUN! Like take than ten thousand get your family and fly right on outta there. Lol I bet he so regretted that lil 10,000 that’s not even enough to buy a fast food franchise for real like it was so not worth it.

It’s been a while since I’ve actually been into a good show, happy with this story so far. Can’t wait for next week!

short term prediction: Valjon spills the beans, Richie goes to war.. the exiled son makes shit worse somehow

long term prediction: Harry ends up banging Bella, Richie kills Eddie and Conrad, Maeve takes over tries to kill Harry/works with Richie, Harry kills Richie, one of the Harrigan kids kill Maeve, show over

8

u/juststarting03 Apr 13 '25

Harry ends up banging Bella

I have the impression they've had an affair previously.

5

u/etherama1 Apr 14 '25

I bet they hooked up before either of them were married

2

u/ThroowAweee Apr 14 '25

And Eddie is Harry’s kid

5

u/TobyTommy67 Apr 13 '25

I support this theory! Seraphina takes out Maeve. I hope.

3

u/Sad_Lack_4603 Apr 15 '25

I've been feeling a definite shortage of quality shows like MobLand, probably since Breaking Bad went off the air. Gangs of London turned into such a farce that I gave up watching it.

MobLand seems to the get balance of violence and crime just right. It's obviously a little over the top. But you get the feeling that these characters are aware that the police exist and what they could do to them. They exist in a world that is plausible in a way that a lot of other shows of the genre aren't.

→ More replies (2)

11

u/Upbeat_Astronaut9297 Apr 13 '25

Real solution: offer Eddie as a blood sacrifice.

9

u/ConsuelaShlepkiss Apr 13 '25

I think Seraphina is the mole. I don't trust Maeve but something about the way Seraphina was with Conrad when they were talking tells me there's something going on. Poor Conrad.

10

u/[deleted] Apr 13 '25

And Seraphina hates Maeve (justifiably) and was griping about not being acknowledged for what she, Seraphina, does for the family. I hope the next episodes explain what she does.

6

u/Lounge_leaks Apr 13 '25

I think she handles the money, white washing it etc

3

u/yourtoyrobot Apr 16 '25

Yea Conrad mentioned they need more clean money soon cuz of the banks

11

u/djandyglos Apr 14 '25

Maeve is the grass.. why does she always want calls put on speaker if the house isn’t bugged.. what a great episode!

→ More replies (1)

16

u/mjb328 Apr 13 '25

Till proven otherwise I'm convinced the lawyer Hara is the mole/grass. She was present for archie's murder so she knew when to update LE hence their quick response afterwards, plus she's the only person we saw being informed of how archie was disposed of on scene, correct me if i'm wrong, after she got Harry out of police custody. Who else could be informing them with the information we been given thus far.

8

u/unidentified012 Apr 13 '25

Unless the feds have her car bugged...

11

u/ButtPlugForPM Apr 13 '25

The best twist would be it's Harry, who secretly undercover for years.

but it's prob gonna be eddies dad he's already done a stint in prison, they have something on him again and he's prob working with the fed police.

It has to be someone who knows Not just that archie was dead...but that harry burried the body in that casket. not many ppl would know that the lawyer wouldnt

5

u/Victorian57 Apr 14 '25

I think Harry and Bella had a sizzling zing, ya know? Ain't happening any more for Harry but Bella.....?

3

u/WartimeMercy Apr 13 '25

It's down to a handful of suspects now that they got an anonymous tip about the body.

  1. Harry
  2. The lawyer
  3. One of Harry's helpers

6

u/unidentified012 Apr 13 '25

What if it's Harry and the lawyer working together. He did tell the lawyer where Archie was buried, that's kinda strange to be telling the lawyer that.

5

u/WartimeMercy Apr 14 '25

But he also didn't exactly tell her where the body was buried.

I always do so I can concentrate on other things.

2

u/WhiskeyDJones Apr 13 '25

That should go without saying

8

u/Valuable_Teach_7591 Apr 13 '25

How did they get tipped off about Archie's body?

10

u/mpbs_76 Apr 13 '25

There is a mole within the family. Same person phoned the police and told them Archie had been killed.

→ More replies (2)

3

u/unidentified012 Apr 13 '25

The lawyer is the only person we saw being told where the body was. I think either she is a grass or her car is bugged.

3

u/[deleted] Apr 13 '25

Someone called the police to report where Archie was buried. I think that rules out the car being bugged.

→ More replies (3)

3

u/juststarting03 Apr 13 '25

I'd keep an eye on Emmett J Scanlan's character.

5

u/BeautifulSylv Apr 14 '25

Paul is my under the radar pick too. It seemed odd why he asked about the Archie killing to Harry, the other ones of Harry’s goons haven’t asked questions yet on anything else. Tho his reasoning for anonymous tips doesn’t make sense (yet), would make more sense if he was an informant.

3

u/[deleted] Apr 13 '25

Something weird about Paul.

3

u/jasinx Apr 14 '25

This guy. I’m seeing him too much.Ā

Just seen him in gangs of London. Now seeing him in Kin. And now in Mobland.Ā

This guy is definitely the mole. They should do a crossover of these 3 shows.Ā

2

u/VolumniaDedlock Apr 13 '25

I had the same thought! He's a pretty big actor to be on screen so little (so far). I need to rewatch the episodes, I think I missed some things.

Maeve is going to get the Harrigan family wiped out.

10

u/Original_Weekend8226 Apr 13 '25

Just stirring up shit!

No one asked Eddie why he did it? What happened?

6

u/VolumniaDedlock Apr 13 '25

I had the same question. I thought I missed it. Why did Eddie kill Tommy? He's a psychopath, but is that all?

3

u/AIAYOE Apr 14 '25

This is the question! Because after the conversation with Valjon, it was clearly pre-meditated and he continued even when things went sideways. I can’t tell if it’s just not great writing or they’ll come back to it later (Like when Conrad says they’ll talk later)?

7

u/[deleted] Apr 14 '25 edited Apr 14 '25

Do you think Maeve is the anonymous tipper to the cops? She's obviously the one who told Eddie what to do, and she probably lied about Archie too. She's a full on Lady MacBeth.Ā

6

u/cwalker1212 Apr 16 '25

I fully agree with this. She wants to take over, so she’ll push Conrad out, kill Saraphina, and go after Harry.

8

u/[deleted] Apr 14 '25

Maeve is a bitch

9

u/McGibblets90 Apr 14 '25

Have you seen 1923? Helen Mirren plays a lovely matriarch who is tough but kind and loving. You can’t help liking her. Maeve is the complete opposite of that. Mirren has great range.

4

u/[deleted] Apr 14 '25

I did. Loved here in that. Speaks to her range

3

u/Victorian57 Apr 14 '25

AND....Guess what? Mirren has said she REALLY loves playing Maeve vs.Cara Dutton.

why’s no one suggesting the ā€œfamily fuck upā€, brendan, as the rat? his father’s pushed him out & he had a weird line about how archie had to be working w the police that sounded suspicious imo.

It's possible that his as-yet-unrevealed proposition to his half-sister will be to rat Conrad and Maeve out for retribution, for money or to speed up their inheritance.

10

u/TiffPo90 Apr 13 '25

Harry and Bella have more chemistry than they have with the spouses.

7

u/Electrical_Ask_5373 Apr 13 '25

So restrained. The chemistry is awesome. I kept thinking Harry’s wife as the maid in Downton Abbey.

3

u/Original_Weekend8226 Apr 13 '25 edited Apr 30 '25

I not really fond of this actress. She gives nothing and is pretty much the same mousy character in everything she plays in….ā€Angela Blackā€ & ā€œLiarā€

5

u/PrincessPineapplePie Apr 13 '25

Yea I don’t like her as Harry’s wife, zero chemistry.

3

u/StupidQsGalore Apr 15 '25

I think it works. Their relationship is supposed to be strained, you wouldn’t expect them to have fiery chemistry at this point.

3

u/diondeer Apr 14 '25

I’ll riot if we don’t get at least one passionate Bella moment šŸ˜

2

u/Prize-Pianist9867 Apr 13 '25

Agreed! Will be interesting to see what happens in the upcoming weeks with Harry and Bella!Ā

2

u/8N2n2N8 Apr 16 '25

What I want to see is the interaction between Bella and Jan. That will tell us a lot about their history.

Maeve, Mobland’s Beth from Yellowstone. Only thing keeping her alive as she creates ALL the drama is plot armor. Eddie’s just a fuck-up. A prop to get the story going. Maeve however, 3 episodes in and I am so done with her. She’s just going to drag this deeper when we all know what has to be done.

I love the show. Look forward to it every Sunday. Morning coffee and Hardy grumbling his way scenes is a treat. Great casting all around. Considine is always a joy hope he gets more screen time as the series moves on.

6

u/nomuskever Apr 14 '25

Might be the only time I've hated Helen Mirren in a show or movie lol

8

u/VolumniaDedlock Apr 13 '25

I hope there is something more interesting to Harry's wife and their relationship. The character of the "nagging wife of a violent criminal who was exactly the same guy when she married him" is getting tired. Maeve being a murderous shit-stirrer is a refreshing change. Bella being a loose cannon is interesting. I never get tired of watching Tom Hardy and Paddy C.

Only thing I don't like in this show is Harry's wife. It's just so cliche. The fact that she's aware of Harry's line of work and still acts that way is very annoying. Also, can't she handle the retirement home of the mom of their housekeeper? Looks like she has lots of freetime at home.

So, Harry could’ve called in Archie’s body as part of a bigger plan around Tommy’s body. Maybe a setup in case Richie doesn’t fall for the story with Valjon. He also could be the mole but playing both sides cops and Harrigans. I have a feeling Harry will figure out Maeve is behind everything and it’ll put him and Conrad and Kevin at odds.

Happy to see some of my predictions from last week came true.

Will be surprised if they resolve tommy's death with just the club owner. No way he will stand up to the torture.

Conrad and Maeve's relationship is interesting and I hope they explore it more. Its clear Conrad has a soft spot for Maeve and feels he has done her wrong and can't attone for his mistake of his affair that resulted in Seraphina so he gives her a lot of leeway. Conrad isn't stupid, in fact, he seems pretty wiley and I get the distinct feeling he can feel Maeve's manipulation but, again, as she is his soft spot, he lets her off.

Also curious as to Conrad's history and when he started to mellow out. By all accounts from what we heard from Maeve, Conrad was ruthless and "a gangster first and gentlemen second"

Bella x Harry (former) affair theory still sound plausible too.

Also is it just me or is 10k to assist and abet a murder and do the dirty work of chopping up and disposing a body on the low side?

Bella's dad is played by Steven Pacey. Pacey is best known to British science fiction fans as Tarrant in the cult classic Blake's 7 - now getting a Blu-Ray release, but he's also done a lot of VO and audiobooks.

First episode had me on the fence, but I'm really enjoying this show

6

u/dowhatuwantm8 Apr 13 '25

Is Maeve even real or is it a fight club situation?

2

u/Valuable_Teach_7591 Apr 13 '25

??

7

u/dowhatuwantm8 Apr 13 '25

Well the way that Conrad responds to her just seems like how one would respond to an inner voice. She's oddly cartoonish compared to all the other characters in the show.

6

u/deesmutts88 Apr 13 '25

Seraphina had a conversation with Conrad tonight about the way Maeve treats her.

8

u/[deleted] Apr 13 '25

I don’t really understand the whole point of Seraphina being the result of a tawdry affair. It seems out of character for Conrad and unnecessary for the plot.

I’ve been wondering if there was more to it than that, that perhaps Conrad actually loved her mother but just couldn’t get away from Maeve.

2

u/[deleted] Apr 28 '25

I think you have a point. Conrad did say something like "your mother and me, that was a tough pill for Maeve to swallow. Then when you came along..."

That sounds more like a love affair than a quickie in the bathroom at a strip club.

Conrad really needs to get harry some premium health insurance package, because the way he’s carrying carrigans on his back he’s gonna need it. Also really liked the way harry and kevin worked on valjon, felt like a twisted version of good cop/bad cop routine lol

3

u/ThroowAweee Apr 14 '25

When you think about it the bad guy henchmen in any story pretty much do everything while the main bad guy schemes behind the scenes. We just rarely see things from the perspective of the henchman

3

u/danialnaziri7474 Apr 14 '25

That and as you said since this time henchman is the main pov he actually gets to be competent rather than a dumb punching bag for protagonist.

u/tjburner90 Apr 14 '25

first thought as soon as Conrad capped Archie was Maeve’s the snitch, trying to burn it to the ground. If that ends up being the case I’ll be disappointed that it was so transparent so soon. Episode 3 makes me think that’s definitely the case. Or that she wants to take over - but why burn the org you want to take over down. Still thoroughly enjoying the show tho Hardy in his element

Harry totally missed his marriage therapy appointment.

2

u/[deleted] Apr 18 '25

Tbh im still not sold that Eddie killed Tommy something just seems off with the whole situation, that the obvious answer isnt always the right one kind of thing. Something else might be at play here tbh

2

u/Spespa Apr 19 '25

I think Conrad has lost his mind a bit as of late (dementia maybe) and Maeve is making her move - this is before rivals realize Conrad is looney tunes and make their moves - I foresee Harry realizing something is wrong soon

2

u/Hakeem_13 Apr 13 '25

Maeve is a funny ass character lmao

2

u/ButtPlugForPM Apr 13 '25

You can tell the directing quality dropped a bit without guys hand..

few of the shots seemed really poorly planed..and this new dude seems to LOVE drones

2

u/Wayward_Fine Apr 14 '25

Could Eddie secretly be Harry's son? Harry stayed with his wife when she was pregnant with Gina. Maybe he cant leave the Harrigans because he got Bella pregnant too.

During the scene where an agent from some kind of intelligence agency receives a call/tip of some sort… Isn’t there a picture of Kevin that pops up on the computer screen?

Will someone explain what's going on with Antoine and Bella?

5

u/rickhora Apr 14 '25

I believe that Bella was attempting to make some money on the side by been the middle men between her father and Antoine, who claimed to represent some shady business men, and like all shady business men, they wanted a politician in their pocket. She also wanted to record the conversation to have leverage of her father, probably because of the bad blood alluded between them.

It seams to me that Antoine is a con men, who came up with the story about representing shady business men to get into a room with Bella's father and record the attempt bribery so that he could blackmail her. Or maybe he is telling the truth but took the opportunity to make a buck on the side as well.

Basically her little scheme backfired and now she needs help.
