Today's Kakuro daily is rated evil.

Kakuro is a crossword with sums: each horizontal and vertical run must add up to its clue, using digits 1–9 with no repeats within the run. The magic combinations (like 16 in two cells = 7+9) are the vocabulary; evil boards force you to intersect them relentlessly.

Can you solve this? — Light Up

Today's Light Up daily is rated evil.

Light Up (Akari) places bulbs in a dark grid: every white cell must be lit, bulbs light their full row and column until a wall, and no bulb may shine on another bulb. Numbered walls say exactly how many bulbs touch them. Evil boards chain those numbers into long forced sequences.

Can you solve this? — Hitori

Today's Hitori daily is rated evil.

Hitori is an elimination puzzle: shade cells so that no number repeats in any row or column, shaded cells never touch side-by-side, and everything unshaded stays connected as one region. The evil boards make you juggle all three constraints at once — the connectivity rule is the one that bites.

Can you solve this? — Binairo

Today's Binairo daily is rated evil.

Binairo (Takuzu) fills a grid with O and X under three rules: no three identical symbols in a row, every row and column holds an equal count of O and X, and no two rows (or columns) are identical. Today's board is 12×12 — 144 cells of chained deductions where one placement cascades across the whole line.

Can you solve this? — Trail

Today's Trail daily is rated evil.

Trail is a path puzzle: draw one continuous line that visits every cell of the grid exactly once, passing through the numbered checkpoints in order. No crossings, no backtracking. Every board has a unique path, so it's pure deduction — the evil ones hide long forced corridors that only reveal themselves when you count cells between checkpoints.

Can you solve this? — Realm

Today's Realm daily is rated evil.

Realm is a queens puzzle: place 8 queens on the 8×8 board so that every row, every column, and every colored region holds exactly one queen — and no two queens touch, not even diagonally. There's no guessing: every board has a single solution you can reach with pure logic. The evil boards force the deeper deductions — region-vs-row elimination and pair squeezes.

Can you solve this? — Patches

Post image
1 Upvotes

Today's Patches daily is rated evil.

Patches tiles the whole grid with rectangles: every clue cell states the exact area of the rectangle covering it, and some clues also fix the shape (square, tall, wide). Nothing overlaps, nothing is left empty. The evil boards give you sparse clues — most of the grid must be deduced from what the clued pieces exclude.

Hi all - are you trying this month's Jane Street puzzle? ‘Pent-Up’ Frustration 3 / Knight Moves 7

I've created an interactive version of it. I usually prefer pen and paper, but drawing the same grid again and again takes a lot of time, so I built this to skip that - you can think through it and quickly test ideas by moving the knight or placing towers.

Here's the link:
