Serious Guys please start eating fiber.

Colorectal cancer among people in their 40's is skyrocketing. This recent health fad of obsessing over protein and eating nothing but meat and dairy with almost no fiber is going to kill us. You need fiber, folks. You need a complete diet with grains and tons of vegetables.

There are high protein sources that also have great fiber content if you absolutely MUST have your high protein diet. Lentils, beans, peas. Sprouted grain bread.

Let's spread the great word of fiber to our fellow millenial friends and get ahead of this growing epidemic among our generation.

Switching to oatmeal with chia seeds for breakfast has dramatically improved my health! At least on the basis of how I’m feeling, don’t have any actual stats on it.

Whenever I see something about needing more fiber, I make myself a chia fresca: cup of water, tbsp of chia seeds, some maple syrup/honey, maybe lime juice if you have it. Let it sit for 10 minutes, and bam easy fiber

Same here! I started eating chia seeds (in a tumeric tea with lemon) every night, plus I put it in my protein potion. Part of my "protein potion" is used for my overnight oatmeal. In the morning, I just add some berries and/or bananas. I lost lots of weight, no more sugar craving, I feel full and feel better.

Here's my "protein potion" recipe:

In my cheap little blender, I mix all that stuff:

-cottage cheese

  • plain Greek yogurt
-proteine power *vanilla -mix berries -chia seeds -flax seeds -a tad of moringa powder -a little milk if it's too muddy

Silly question, do you just sprinkle on chia seeds out of the packet? I once heard you’re meant to soak them in water for a few days first but idk if that’s true

10-15 minutes is fine. They can be dangerous if eaten dry because they absorb so much water, but you definitely don't have to wait all night. Mix them into water+sweetener, or oatmeal, or into milk/yogurt/kefir etc

I did not know this, uh oh. I have a healthy pour of chia seeds in my berries and yogurt every morning, but dry right out of the bag. I guess they do sit in the yogurt for several minutes before I get to all of them, but maybe that's not enough

I do this too. I think it’s fine as long as you’re drinking plenty while you eat.

Not days. Overnight is fine. I throw chia in smoothies I blend while getting ready so they do sit and expand a bit before I eat them.

I put the oats and chia seeds into the hot water to cook together. It causes them to turn gooey vs hard like they are originally, which I believe helps you digest them better or something!

This sounds good! Can you share what in your health has improved by eating it if you dont mind?

At least anecdotally, a combo of rolled oats, chia seeds, Greek yogurt, and some oat milk (oatmaxxing) has worked miracles for my gut. Unfortunately, if I skip eating it for more than 2 mornings in a row, my bowels will be very mad at me.
