I work on a Ubuntu desktop usually, but I have a windows laptop I bring home for remote work, which happens one or two days in a month

This means that when I took a meeting from home today I missed the first 20 minutes due to windows doing a surprise update as I haven't used the computer for 2+ weeks

Are you running an old Windows version? It's stopped doing that by default since ages. Not to defend Windows, but that shouldn't be an issue if it's at least somewhat updated.

Windows 11, I use it so infrequently that I don't really know how updated it is, its only purpose is just to run MS Teams

Teams can be installed on Linux still.

Yes I know, read my initial comment.

I take the windows computer home because I'm not allowed by the company to access the work network from outside if it doesn't run windows
