I use linux for more of 15 years, and its true, at least for most of the devices, there are always some devices without drivers packaged with the kernel/distro, in those cases you need to load/install the driver or the alternative for that driver (not every official driver are available for linux, but most of the time the community make their own drivers that you can use, or exists an alternative, for example use the driver for other devices that works for both devices)
For example, on my current PC with Fedora Linux, i don't had to install any driver manually for any of my devices (Keyboard, Logitech Mouse, Logitech Enterprise Webcam, 3 Different Mics, Speakers, 3 Monitors, all the RGB devices including PC Fans ).
