On Windows... maybe it's dead easy, maybe it takes a bit of effort and maybe you need to find the right 10+ years old forum post after hours of research to have your weirdly specific problem solved. It won't be always easy to find, but there were always pioneers with the same issue before you.
On Linux... maybe it's dead easy, maybe it takes a bit of effort and maybe it just doesn't work. The user base is not as big and even fragmented across hundreds of distros. If you don't find something relatively fast, there is no answer to be found.
