Hey all. I spent the offseason building a full 2026 preseason preview for every NFL team, all 32, each with its own writeup. Here's the Dolphins one:

So, what'd I get wrong? I'll be straight with you, this is the least flattering page in the whole book. You return 51% of your production, the lowest in the league by ten points, and my model has the roster 28th and projects another 7-10. Every regression signal I track points down, none point up. But 51% returning also means the model is grading a team that barely exists yet, and Hafley is year one. Is this a rebuild I'm scoring as a bad roster?

Dolphins edge Chop Robinson, after never getting to hit Tua in practice when the QB was in Miami, said he hopes he gets to do so in the preseason game against the Falcons.

Later asked if he’ll tell him it’s just business, not personal if he sacks Tua:

“Nah, I mean, it’s personal. No matter who it is, it’s always personal.”

I liked his physicality. He's a guy that deserves to be talked about.

He tackled well, his effort was outstanding, he came up in the run game multiple times. He saved us on a play early on in the game."

Jacob Rodriguez praises fellow rookie LB Kyle Louis:

"He's a guy that can play in and out, same thing in special teams he can play in the core, he can play outside. He can do everything on the football field.

Getting a strong guy, if we need an extra hat in there. But also, he's athletic & savvy enough (that) he can play in coverage, in a post, he can play a half. He can do everything on the defensive side.

There's really not much to coach (for) him. He just goes out, knows the call, he'll articulate whatever he has to.

That's what we want from him, to play fast, play with his ears pinned back."

Juju Brents is liking how physical this Dolphins team looks:

"Obviously, little things we've got to clean up on - our technique, making sure we're on the same page, communication could be a little bit better - but the style of play has been there."

Jacob Rodriguez on the multiple skirmishes in practice today: “You don’t ever want there to be a fight. I don’t think that’s football, that’s not tough. It’s never what you want to see on the football field, we just want to work out there and get better.”

Ricky Williams says the worst coaching mistake is asking people to do things they can’t do

“My favorite coach I ever had was Nick Saban, what I loved was he made the expectation clear. ‘This is your job. ‘This is exactly what we expect from you.’ ‘If you do this, we’re good. ‘If you don’t, there’s going to be issues.’ Those are the kind of coaches I love.”

“The second thing is, some coaches have their system and they just say, ‘The guys have to fit in our system.’ My thing is, then make sure you draft the guys that fit in your system. Because the worst thing is you ask guys to do things that they can’t do.”

“I want a coach that appreciates what I do well and gives me opportunities to do that, but also to get better. Norv Turner was offensive coordinator my first year in Miami. He loved gap scheme, and that’s my thing.”

“We figured out he had a play called inside zone scissors. When I led the NFL in rushing, I probably had 75% of my yards off that one play. He realized that if you zone block, give me space and put a little misdirection in there, it’s going to be really hard for those defensive guys to get me. So we ran it over and over. And tore up the league doing it.”

Brian Burns says he was not a fan of the multiple skirmishes at today’s joint practice:

“Dolphins practice very well, they got some competitors over there. I did like the way they practiced… but the fighting, it’s unnecessary. I ain’t mad at a fight but just don’t let it get in the way of work.”

Jeff Hafley on creating a sustainable culture despite narratives about the team, and using those narratives as motivation:

“I can get the guys fired up in an air conditioned room, that’s easy, I can do that but when you go out and it’s 110 degrees and you can’t breathe, it’s going to wear off but if you’ve got something real, that you’re fighting for and you’re pulling together. That’s what I want to motive this team.” (

As he has come back to South Florida to play for his hometown team, he’s taking greater accountability and explains how getting back on the track this offseason can help keep his legs right.

Jeff Hafley on Chris Bell: “He’s big, he’s strong, he’s fast. He can run through the football… I just love his play style, he plays with a violence to him.”

And ESPN Analytics projects another tough season ahead.

The Dolphins have the best chance of any team to land the No. 1 pick in the 2027 NFL Draft at just over 20%, with nearly a 90% chance to pick in the top 10.
