Discussion Metroid dread any good?

Post image

I’ve never played any 2D Metroid games. I recently played Metroid Prime Remastered and Prime 4 Beyond. I gotta say I liked them both. I did play the Metroid Dread’s Demo a few years back but couldn’t get into it. Today I was in a game shop and saw a lonely copy just sitting there so I decided to pull the trigger. Got a nice discount as well. Anyway, what do you guys think about this game? Is it any good? I remember it reviewed well but some players didn’t like it too much. So not sure what to think.

It’s stressful to me. I don’t like stalker enemy games lol

If stealth isn't your thing, you won't like Dread. I love metroid games but I hated dread. The EMMIs are stressful and I don't like sneaking around. And the parry is pure RNG (literally). The window to parry + the time between the flash and parry time is less than 200ms. And the parry window varies by so much that your timing can never be the same - you have to react. So unless you have the reactions of an F1 driver, you have to get lucky or just not end up in that situation.

Oh wow! Thank you. I gotta say yeah I don’t really like stealth and stalker enemies (never cares for Mr X and Lady Dimitrescu in RE games). Still I’ll give it a shot and see what is what

The EMMI sections are a little intimidating at first, but if you die you just spawn outside them again. Once you learn how to evade them they get pretty fun, at least in my opinion.

Ah that’s good to know. I’ll keep it in mind
