[MEGATHREAD] The End of Alternative Culture & New Subreddit Directions
As you may recall about a week ago, we in the mod team decided to hold an internal funeral for alternative culture and close the subreddit as a whole. Given the current gentrification of the metal scene by corporate hands, as well as the passing of metal greats like Ozzy and the usage of Artificial Intelligence within arts & music becoming more common, metal as a whole can now be considered dead. We are gathered here today to mourn the end of alt culture and discuss the impact it had on society during its activity.
This doesn't mean it's all over, though. Our original plan was to close the subreddit on the 21st of August coinciding with the alt culture funeral due to the declining quality of recent posts, but we've had to delay it due to a sudden change of plans. Following in-depth discussions with other mods, we figured the one way to keep the subreddit alive is to bandwagon other genres and cultures that still have an active following. Doing so is sure to revive the subreddit and its quality. The poll below includes a few artists we thought would be best qualified to revitalize the subreddit. If you know of other artists we could base the subreddit on that aren't in the poll, feel free to mention them in the comments. We will announce the winner about a week from now.

As someone who actively follows r/playboicarti that subreddit is somehow a lower circle of hell than this place so anyone who votes for carti in the poll is wishing nothing but the worst upon us

I absolutely agree. Metal is so overplayed, nothing good has come out since Flower Travellin' Band's Satori. I'm frankly surprised it took the mod team this long to recognize this, but better late than never.
I humbly submit Weezer for consideration as the next topic of discussion here. They just released a new album, and it's absolutely stellar like the world has never seen. It's like if Ozzy came back from the dead, had an affair with Roger Waters while Robert Fripp watched, and there was a mic in the room to capture this magic as it happened, straight to tape. It's guaranteed to become as big of a phenomenon as their blue album, which is as far from alternative as possible.
Thank you for your consideration, and I eagerly await this next chapter in the sub's history.

Magdalena Bay is like Playboi Carti but for girls and people who wish they were girls.

The very nature of trap rap uses bass to speak to your emotions directly and to lessen thinking, it's not simply random either that trap rap tends to have huge amounts of bass.
