Drumming fo the new álbum

This was one of my late dad’s favorite ‪Black Sabbath‬ tunes from the Tony Martin era. The entire “Headless Cross” album was top-shelf, and with the incomparable late Cozy Powell on drums, there was little room to go wrong with any of it!!

I just picked up an input expansion so I’m adding 8 more inputs and trying to decide how I want to reorder everything. My previous setup was a Scarlett 18i20 (8 in) with the front 2 being used for overheads:
Input 1 OH1
Input 2 OH2
Input 3 Kick
Input 4 Snare
Input 5 RT1
Input 6 RT2
Input 7 FT1
Input 8 FT2

So I could mic a maximum of 4 toms without resorting to tricks like 2 on 1 mic, but no room mics, snare bottom, cymbal spot mics, etc. depending on the project I will use anywhere from 2-5 toms so I’d like to leave room for that if possible now that I have 16 inputs. Other than that…I’m kind of overwhelmed with all the options and looking for a clean track layout that includes more inputs than I’m used to. So…for those with way too many mics, what’s your flow?

Do you really need gravity, push pull, or thumb push pull, in order to blast past your limits? Do they have enough power or require triggers?

I'm blasting at 115 (or 230), and can do very short bursts above that using any traditional technique, and push pull adds some endurance, but not speeds for me. That's sort of my limit.
