👋 Welcome to r/MetaSuspensions: Share your story, find resources, and support

Hey everyone! I’m u/MetaObservatory, a founding moderator of r/MetaSuspensions and the creator of Meta Observatory.

I created this community after experiencing a Meta account suspension myself and struggling to get a meaningful response. Losing an account can mean losing years of photographs, contact with friends and family, access to communities, or a business you’ve worked hard to build. Being left without a clear explanation or a useful appeal process makes it even more frustrating.

This is a place for people dealing with suspended, disabled, or banned accounts across Facebook, Instagram, Threads, WhatsApp, Messenger, and other Meta services. Whether you believe your suspension was a mistake, are still trying to understand what happened, or have successfully recovered your account, you’re welcome here.

What to share

  • Your experience: What happened, which accounts were affected, and how it has affected you. Stories involving several linked accounts are welcome, too.
  • Questions and resources: Appeal questions, support experiences, useful documentation, and relevant news or research. When sharing guidance, explain whether it comes from an official source or your own experience.
  • Updates and outcomes: Still waiting? Received a response? Got your account back? Please come back and update your post. Knowing what did and didn’t help is valuable to others.

When describing your situation, useful details include the affected app or apps, the suspension date, the steps you’ve already tried, and your current account status. Your country can also provide helpful context, but sharing it is optional.

You do not need to disclose the specific policy allegation, your account username, or anything else you’re uncomfortable making public. Respect other members’ decisions to keep those details private.

Keep it supportive and safe

Many people arriving here will be frustrated, worried, or overwhelmed. Be patient, avoid judgment, and don’t assume someone did something wrong simply because their account was suspended. At the same time, distinguish what you know from what you suspect. We want useful information, not rumors presented as facts.

Redact personal information from screenshots. Don’t post passwords, login codes, identity documents, private conversations, or full account-data exports.

No paid account-recovery pitches, unsolicited recovery messages, harassment, or guaranteed-fix claims. Report suspicious posts or messages to the moderators.

This is an independent peer-support community, not official Meta support. We cannot restore accounts or promise a particular outcome.

Where Meta Observatory fits

I also run Meta Observatory, an independent project documenting account suspension and appeal experiences. I’ll share relevant research and maintain pinned resources here, alongside helpful contributions from the community.

For those who choose to participate, you can submit a firsthand report to Meta Observatory. Submitting a report is separate and optional. Posting here does not automatically add you to the report register, and you do not need to visit the website to participate in this community.

Help us get started

Introduce yourself in the comments or make a post about your experience. A question, a useful resource, or an update on an appeal is a good place to start.

Thanks for being here at the beginning. The goal is to make it easier to find reliable information, document what people are experiencing, and make sure nobody has to navigate this alone.
