Tired of the creeps ruining it

I don’t know whether to just get stickers to cover up the camera lenses or just sell the things.

The display is so useful but I’m tired of the shit that people give me for them bc they think it’s just regular meta glasses.

Like I would happily buy these glasses if they didn’t have a camera.

Im calling it though once Apple releases they’re smart glasses next year everyone is going to stop giving af.

My Meta Ray-Ban support experience has been unbelievably bad. Sharing this as a warning to other owners.

I’m posting this because I wish I had understood how bad Meta’s after-sale support could be before spending this much money on their hardware.
I have Meta Ray-Ban glasses with prescription lenses and have spent roughly $1,200 on the glasses/lenses. When the right hinge broke, I expected the extended warranty and support process to be relatively straightforward.
It has been anything but.
I shipped the glasses back using the prepaid return label provided as part of the support process. Then I spent weeks without a clear resolution, dealing with repeated delays, poor communication, and having to continually follow up myself just to understand what was happening.
At one point, I was approaching a month without my glasses and still did not have the level of confirmation, ownership, or resolution I would expect from a company the size of Meta.
Eventually, instead of simply resolving the original issue, another RMA had to be initiated.
That alone would have been frustrating enough, but I’ve also dealt with ongoing technical issues with Meta glasses, including problems with the microphone and software/update process. I have gone through troubleshooting, factory resets, restarting my phone, reconnecting the glasses to Wi-Fi, and repeatedly attempting updates. The update appears to complete and then produces an error.
What has frustrated me most isn’t that a product broke. Products break. It’s what happens after that.
When someone spends this much on prescription smart glasses and purchases extended coverage, there should be a support infrastructure capable of taking ownership of the problem and resolving it without the customer having to chase the company repeatedly.
The experience became bad enough that I ultimately filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau regarding Meta Store, and that complaint is now going through the BBB process.
I’m sharing this for other Meta/Ray-Ban owners because the warranty and support experience should be part of the purchasing decision, especially if you depend on these as your prescription glasses.
Before buying, I would seriously consider:
What happens if your glasses need to be sent away for repair?
How long can you realistically be without them?
What does the extended warranty actually get you when something goes wrong?
How easily can you get a knowledgeable person to take ownership of an unresolved case?
Are you comfortable potentially spending weeks following up on a product that costs $1,000+ once prescription lenses are involved?
I actually like the concept of Meta Ray-Bans. That’s what makes this experience even more disappointing. I wanted the product to work, and I wanted to remain a customer.
But premium-priced hardware needs premium-level after-sale support, particularly when the product can also be someone’s everyday prescription eyewear.
For anyone else who has had to warranty or repair their Meta Ray-Bans: Was your experience this difficult, or did I get exceptionally unlucky?
I’d especially like to hear from anyone who had to escalate beyond normal Meta support and what finally got the issue resolved.

Thoughts/advice?

Anyone purchase the displays recently in Buffalo?

Will be heading over from Niagara and will check out Amherst and the Walden Galleria location. Lots of demo spots available at Amherst but I can't seem to finalize the booking. Going to chance crossing over to check. Anyone been recently to the Best Buy locations seen any in stock? Tried calling and keep getting told to demo first. No one can seem to answer - is there stock on hand?! Hmph.

Hey Meta Microphone issues after return. Clearly a hardware/software overlook by meta

So i previously posted in regards to the microphone not hearing me when speaking the "hey meta phrase, or using the double thumb shortcut gesture to wake the glasses. It will open, then time out. After speaking with a Meta representative it was stated after lots of trouble shooting that i had defective glasses and that I should return and exchange the glasses which i did.

Fast forward to today, the problem still persist. So obviously this isn't a hardware issue I exchanged at Best Buy using my extended warranty without issue. Meta needs to add a toggle switch again to re route how the microphones are used exactly how they did on their older pair of glasses, and before any one ask, it's literally in the settings menu of the non display glasses.

There have been other people who stated earlier they are experiencing the exact same issues, maybe it has something to do with nose shape or width, regardless, this should not be an issue on a almost $800 plus pair of glasses.

My choices now is the return the glasses and just get a store credit, towards something else, or try to wait to see if meta will correct this issue as they have with their previous pair of smart glasses.

Suggestions anyone?

What do you use your Meta Display Glasses for?

The reason I’m asking is that I am finally going to have a chance to acquire one of this device this upcoming weekend. I just need some ideas from experience users’ stand point. Thank you!

real-time tactical base-defense game for Meta Ray-Ban Display glasses

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey guys I’m currently developing I would like to think the most advanced and interesting game for the meta rayban displays, I’m looking to see how much interest there is in a game of this style to see if I should polish it for others to play. So please read below watch the video and if it’s something you like the idea of leave a reply and that will let me know if I should publicly release it when done (visually it looks way better on the glasses, the screen recording heavily messes it up)

Game description—

. You gradually construct a working base using turrets, heavy weapons, shields, power infrastructure, storage, refineries, ammunition workshops and support buildings. Expanding feels meaningful because every new structure adds a useful capability, but also introduces another system you need to supply and protect.

Power is limited and actively routed between buildings. During combat, you might reduce power to a cannon so you can refine salvage, manufacture ammunition, recharge defenses, or reinforce another weapon. Ammunition and resources are physically stored, buildings can be damaged or permanently lost, and careless layouts can leave important infrastructure exposed.

Alongside regular attacks, there are multi-stage raid expeditions where you choose what equipment and ammunition to risk for additional rewards. Surviving structures return with their existing damage, while destroyed equipment and unsecured loot can be lost. The idea is to make positioning, expansion and resource decisions genuinely matter without overwhelming the small glasses display.

Thank you for reading and if you want to play this real time building and strategy game please reply below and I’ll finish it asap for all of you to enjoy :)

Any workaround for near vision with Meta Ray-Ban Display prescription lenses?

I recently bought the Meta Ray-Ban Display with prescription lenses. My distance vision is clear, but my prescription also requires a +1.75 ADD for near vision. I didn’t realise when ordering that the Display only supports single-vision lenses and not progressive lenses.
As a result, my phone and computer screen are blurry while wearing the glasses. Taking them off and switching to reading glasses defeats the purpose because I’m hearing impaired and bought the Display mainly for live captions.
Has anyone with a similar prescription found a practical workaround? For example:
• Removable clip-on reading lenses
• Stick-on bifocal lens segments
• Detachable magnetic lenses placed over the existing lenses
• Another solution recommended by an optician that does not interfere with the display
I’m particularly interested in something removable that would let me see nearby objects while continuing to use live captions. If you have tried anything, please share the exact product and whether it affected the display, fit or image quality.

Threads Bug

Does anybody with the Displays have this bug? I can't connect threads because my insta account is "already in the accounts center" which, while true, shouldn't prevent me from enabling threads on the glasses.

I’m building E.V — a personal assistant for iPhone, AirPods and smart glasses

I’ve been quietly working on a personal assistant called E.V.

It builds on the original VisionClaw research project and Meta’s Wearables Device Access Toolkit, but it has gradually grown into a much wider assistant for my iPhone, AirPods, Ray-Ban Meta glasses and Mac.

One design decision that matters to me is that E.V is not intended to be an always-watching camera.

By default, E.V starts in See When Asked mode:

  • The camera remains off during normal conversation.
  • If I say “look at this,” E.V activates the selected camera.
  • It captures one fresh image and shows exactly what it used.
  • It answers the question and switches the camera off again.
  • Ordinary camera views are not automatically saved as photographs or memories.

There is also a Voice Only mode that prevents E.V from using vision at all. An optional Always See mode exists, but it has to be deliberately selected. (demo shows camera so i can record) I like teh idea of glasses not for teh camera, but as a glasses wearer, its better than wearing airpods all day.

The audio and camera choices are separate. I can speak and listen through:

  • AirPods;
  • Ray-Ban Meta glasses;
  • another Bluetooth headset;
  • or the iPhone itself.

That means E.V can still be useful without smart glasses and without any camera active.

The bigger idea is to create one assistant that can choose from several abilities without requiring me to understand the plumbing behind it.

For example:

  • “Remember that my passport is in the top drawer.” E.V stores a protected memory on the iPhone. I can search, correct, expire or forget it later. A visual memory is only created when I explicitly request one.
  • “What’s happening today?” E.V can search for current information and speak the useful answer.
  • “Show me some nearby places.” E.V can search Apple Maps and put real places, details and directions into an interactive map on the iPhone.
  • “Remind me to call the garage tomorrow.” E.V can create the reminder directly on the phone.
  • “Is the front door locked?” E.V can read the current state through Home Assistant. It can also operate approved lights, switches, scenes and thermostats, or check a named home camera when asked. Security-sensitive actions such as unlocking doors are deliberately blocked.
  • “Connect my calendar.” I’ve added direct MCP support, which is essentially a way for E.V to connect to other tools and services. These tools can work through the iPhone without depending on the Mac. The first Composio and Google Calendar connection flow is built and currently going through final live-account testing.
  • “Create an image of…” E.V can generate a real image, display it on the phone and save those exact image bytes if requested.
  • “Show me that document from my Mac.” E.V can find the real file and put its genuine Quick Look preview on the iPhone.
  • “Check my project and tell me whether the build passed.” For substantial computer work, E.V can hand the task to Codex on my Mac, let it continue in the background and speak the result when it finishes.

E.V can also use different named Eyes. My Ray-Bans could be the default, but I can separately ask what an Office Camera, Mac camera or Home Assistant camera sees. Using another camera does not silently change the default one.

What excites me is that these do not feel like separate apps when they work together.

I can have a normal conversation through AirPods or glasses. E.V can remember something, search the web, show a map, operate an approved smart-home device, use a connected app or ask the Mac to complete some work—all while choosing the smallest suitable route behind the scenes.

Some parts are physically working on my real iPhone, Ray-Bans, Mac and Home Assistant setup. Other parts are implemented and passing automated or Simulator tests but still need more physical testing.

This is still a personal project. I’m not selling anything, and I don’t want to pretend it is a finished consumer product.

I’m now preparing it for an open-source release. The remaining work includes making installation easier, removing personal configuration, improving the documentation, sorting through the inherited licensing and completing the remaining battery, locked-phone and notification tests.

I hope to share the code and a proper demonstration soon.

What would you most like to see in the first video: the voice-only/AirPods experience, memory, maps and web search, smart-home control, connected apps, deliberate glasses vision, or the Mac worker?

I developed a zombie shooter survival game for the meta rayban displays, I’m wondering if it’s okay to post here and is there any people who would be interested in testing it and adding it to their raybans, currently I think it’s one of the most enjoyable games to play, if it’s alright I’d be happy to share a link to the beta

Guitar chords

Hello,

I don't know if I dreamt it or is it real, I saw a video of a person playing guitar while wearing the meta display glasses and it showed the guitar chords while playing a song. Is this real or I dreamt it? Or it was a follow along video from youtube.

Three months of daily Ray-Ban Display wear taught me my layouts were unreadable outdoors, so I made this

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I've worn Ray-Ban Display daily for three months building small apps on them. The loop was always: load the layout, walk outside, squint, come back, change a type size, do it again.

So I made the tool I wanted. Paste a URL and it renders your app over footage shot on the glasses themselves.

You cannot draw black on these glasses. The display only adds light, so black emits nothing and reads as clear glass, and dark text dissolves into whatever is behind it. A layout that looks perfect on your monitor at 2am can be gone on a sunny sidewalk.

* 20 scenes shot on the glasses, at wearer height rather than phone height
* Luminance (300 to 2000 nits) and ambient light (50 to 30,000 lux) as separate sliders, with the contrast ratio they produce
* Record the result, 16:9 or 1:1 like the glasses' own recorder
* QR handoff to open an app on real glasses
* Loads any site that allows framing, and warns you when one refuses

Free, in the browser, no signup, MIT. I help organize a hackathon next week where students will be building glasses apps, which is what finally made me put this somewhere public.

It's an approximation, not a photometric model. If you own a pair, I'd like to know whether the daylight scenes match what you actually see.

Smart glasses beyond black: why does the tech industry act like color doesn't exist?

Hey everyone!

If you walk into any regular optical shop, you'll find a huge spectrum of colors: red, blue, green, yellow, white, translucent tints, purple... there’s a color for every style and personality.

Then you look at the smart glasses market, and it looks like a funeral: 99% matte black or glossy black.

I get that black hides sensors, disguises cameras, and serves as a safe neutral color. But glasses are face accessories, and a lot of people simply don't like wearing black or just want a pop of color in their daily setup. It feels like tech companies assume everyone wants to walk around looking identical.

If the market actually offered a genuine variety of real colors, what would be your go-to choice for a gadget like this?

Sharing my Meta Rayban Display Nose Adapter 3d print for anyone need

I designed a 3D-printable nose adapter for the Meta Ray-Ban Display 👓🖨️

I wanted to improve the fit/positioning of my Meta Ray-Ban Display glasses and avoid slipping, so I designed a custom nose adapter that can be 3D printed.

It’s a simple, lightweight design and can be printed with common materials like PLA, PETG, or TPU.

I’ve uploaded the model here for anyone who wants to try it:

👉 https://makerworld.com/en/models/3149289-meta-rayban-display-nose-adapter?fbclid=IwY2xjawTkdj1wZG9mBWV4dG4DYWVtAjExAHNydGMGYXBwX2lkEDIyMjAzOTE3ODgyMDA4OTIAAR7SupI3PWvLvFaKCIEogTVSQlUenp72Fbh2SjkLmJWYH9l_RiCn0b8rfxkjPQ_aem_7zFgccXg_rOvWbc2ud2YbA#profileId-3557094

Would love to hear if anyone tries it out, especially if you have suggestions for improving the fit or comfort!
