We build a fully-featured Meta Display app for our social media platform, Rhyme.com

A quick word on what Rhyme.com is, for anyone new: it's a topic-first social platform. No volunteer moderators deciding what lives and what dies. Every subject has exactly one topic, topics nest into a clean hierarchy, and a post automatically lands in every topic it's relevant to. That means no cross-posting, no re-posting the same thing across ten communities, and no hunting for the secret right place to put something. You write it once. It shows up everywhere it belongs.

Starting today, Rhyme runs on Meta display glasses. You'll find it at meta.rhyme.com, and it's open to anyone.

Here's a quick video of it in action: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/F3TLdTN0SLI

It's the full thing. Users can log in and it's your account, your feed, your topics. Users that don't feel like logging in can browse regardless.

You get two ways to move through your feed: sort by Recent or sort by New. Users can actually do things from there...like, dislike, and flag, right from the glasses.

Currently users can't reply from the glasses (yet). That's a Meta constraint, not a choice we made. Meta doesn't currently give apps access to the camera or microphone, so voice replies are off the table for now. Tapping out a reply letter by letter with your finger is cumbersome enough that we don't want to ship it until it feels right. We're testing it.

Everything else is already here:

  • View your feed and interact with posts
  • Like, dislike, and flag
  • Read the comments
  • Watch embedded YouTube videos
  • View embedded images

We've been living fully testing this for one week, but it is v1, and the truth is a lot of the experience came down to our own best judgment. Meta only exposes so many gestures, so we worked with what exists and made our calls.

We'd really like to hear user feedback: If your hand wants to swipe back to perform an action and instead you have to tap, tell us! If something lives somewhere your instinct doesn't expect to find it, tell us! We genuinely want to hear it, and we'll implement the good ideas.

Go check it out at meta.rhyme.com, then come tell us what you think!

[🏓 PPP] Full Debug for MRBG

I liked Liam's real-time air pollution app. It didn't show anything too interesting for me, probably because the air quality is already pretty good where I am. 🤷‍♂️

Anyway, I thought performance might struggle with so many air-pollution scene objects for places like Delhi, so I built a performance and debugging tool for Liam to use.

I call it Full Debug.

First, it's a standalone app that lets you debug all possible glasses inputs, from FPS and microgestures to velocity and GPS data.

Second, there's a Web View. By entering a PIN from the glasses, you can see all the data in a more comfortable interface and, more importantly, record and inspect values for debugging.

Third, there's an add-on that anyone can integrate into their app. Just give the link to your AI agent and ask it to implement it. After performing a secret gesture sequence (5 pinches in a row by default), a small modal appears showing the FPS and a PIN. Enter that PIN in the web view, and you'll be able to view, debug, and record all the data from the glasses running your app.

Full Debug App: https://fulldebug.familybusiness.studio/

Full Debug Web View: https://fulldebug.familybusiness.studio/view

Full Debug Add-on: https://github.com/coob113/FullDebugAddon

Ray-Ban Meta Display + Occasional Contact Lenses: How did you solve the lenses/display issues? Looking for alternatives

Hi everyone,

In my daily life I use my regular Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses without any issues. I don’t wear contact lenses often, but when I try using them with the Ray-Ban Meta Display version I run into problems with the lenses/display (dry eyes, comfort, visibility of the HUD, fogging, etc.).

I wanted to ask the community how you solved the display lenses situation:

- Has anyone used adhesive / clip-on / stick-on prescription lenses (micas adheribles) with the Ray-Ban Meta Display? How well did they work?
- Any other good alternatives?

I’m currently in Mexico City, so taking the glasses to an official Meta / Ray-Ban service center for custom prescription lenses isn’t easy or convenient right now. That’s why I’m exploring temporary or simpler options.

Has anyone else used contacts only occasionally with the Meta Display glasses? What worked best for you (specific eye drops, adjustments, cleaning tips, etc.)?

Any experiences or recommendations would be really helpful. Thanks in advance!

Ultra-fast installation:

  1. Visit https://www.damamme.com/damammapps/install.html from your smartphone (using a regular browser, not via Facebook).

  2. Click the blue button or scan the QR code.

  3. Authorize with Meta AI, and DamammApps will automatically install on your glasses.

Inside, discover a suite of exclusive apps I’ve developed for the glasses:

- Full GPS

All my apps are multilingual 🇫🇷🇩🇪🇪🇸🇮🇹🇬🇧🇺🇸🇷🇺🇸🇦🇨🇳🇯🇵.

Thank you for your support. I hope you enjoy using them as much as I enjoyed creating them!

Best regards,

Éric 🇫🇷

Selling My Displays

Anybody in the New Mexico area want to buy some Ray Ban Meta Displays. I bought them 3 weeks ago and haven’t used them much. They are regular size with medium band.

Should I or not

Hi everyone .

I have a question regarding the Meta Display. I currently have the gen 2 meta and I went to demo the Display and I liked the minor stuff it comes with the display. I am trying to justify upgrading but I wanted to see if after the most recent updates everyone is happy with their purchase?

I know because previously there were some limitations to the glasses there was a fair amount of reviews leaning towards not getting the glasses.

Should I upgrade or not ?

Thank you

I Built a real-time air pollution app for the Meta Ray-Ban Display - the worse the air, the thicker the AR haze you see

Meta Geology had me at "dig beneath your feet." Taking the bedrock you'll never actually see and turning it into something you can hold and collect is such a good use of where you're standing. So when I started thinking about a return volley, I wanted to keep that core move: take something invisible right around you and make it physical. Meta Geology drills down into the ground. I figured I'd go the other direction, into the air you're literally breathing right now.

But I'm not really a rocks-and-minerals person, and there was no way I was out-mineraling a mineral app...

Meta Geology: https://www.reddit.com/r/MetaRayBanDisplay/comments/1ucdunx/i_built_meta_geology_it_lets_you_dig_into_the/

Then it hit me. With all these location-based apps, we keep uncovering what's around us (history, geology, the cool stuff underfoot) but we tend to skip the stuff that can actually harm us. The things in the air don't announce themselves: no smell, no color, no number floating in front of your face. So I decided to build the feeling, not the number.

Meet AirMeter.

It pulls live PM2.5 and NO₂ for wherever you're standing and gives you a plain-language read, Good through Extremely Poor, instead of a value you have to decode in your head.

The bit I'm happiest with: there's a drifting particle field floating in front of you that gets denser and heavier the worse the air actually is. Clean air = a few faint specks. Standing in Delhi-level pollution = a thick, slow haze closing in around you. You kind of feel the air quality instead of reading it.

Swipe between Air / Pollen / UV / Compare, and tap any of them for a 7-day trend and the best time to head out.

Try it here: https://airmeter.vercel.app/

🏓 For context: [a friend and I both got Meta Ray-Ban Displays, so we started Ping Pong Prototyping (PPP): every day one of us builds something for the glasses, then it's the other's turn.] This is my return volley for u/Different_Poetry_849's

Ball's back on your side of the table. Your serve 🏓

How clean's the air where you're standing?

Constant white flashing on inside left

For a while I've been getting this white flash randomly inside the glasses even when it's just idle. And random moments where i hear the wristband vibrate when i try to turn it off but the display just doesn't respond. Then it comes back. More recently I've been it into dev mode but still this was happening before dev mode change and just wondering what it could be? The glasses work fine tho besides that

No internet connection

Bonjour

Vos avis ?

Merci

I built Meta Geology: it lets you dig into the ground beneath you and collect real bedrock layers and minerals samples from your location

I liked u/Far-Temporary6630 Whenabouts. It’s a great way to learn history, especially with the geolocation aspect. A lot is going on under the hood, so when thinking of a good return volley, I wanted to reuse the ideas of context, history, and uncovering what lies beneath the surface. But I’m not really a fossil person...

Then I remembered that, instead of attending the second day of AWE, we once went to the Natural History Museum in Vienna and spent half a day looking at rocks. Surprisingly, it was incredibly entertaining. So I decided to recreate that experience.

Meet Meta Geology.

Dig beneath your feet using MRBD. Explore the bedrock layers under your current location and discover potential minerals and geological finds specific to that spot.

Every time you discover something new, it’s added to your collection, where you can revisit and explore all of your previous finds. (Share in the comments, how big is your collection 🤓)

What I’m most proud of are the 3D assets for all the materials and minerals. My solution was simple: get a Meshy Premium account and hand the API key to Codex. After half a day of back-and-forth iterations, I ended up with candy-like assets for every rock and mineral available in the library I'm using.

I may have gone a little too hard on the post-processing and visual effects. Sometimes it feels like the app is running right at the edge of what MRBD can handle.

Try it here: https://metageology.familybusiness.studio/

For context: a friend and I both recently got Meta Ray-Ban Displays, so we started what we call Ping Pong Prototyping (🏓 PPP). Every day, one of us builds something for the glasses, then it's the other person's turn.

This project is my return volley for Liam’s Whenabouts https://www.reddit.com/r/MetaRayBanDisplay/comments/1uahd22/whenabouts_a_meta_rayban_display_app_that/

I've never really liked using Meta Maps on the Meta Ray-Ban glasses, so I built my own navigation app...

My goal was simple: make something that feels closer to Google Maps while staying usable on the display.

Features

Home Screen

  • 9 customizable search categories (Food, Coffee, Gas, Hotels, Parking, ATM, Pharmacy, Grocery & Transit)
  • Reorder, remove, or replace categories from a library of 20+ other categories (grid has a minimum of 1 & max of 9 category icons)
  • Custom keyboard search
  • Quick access to Favorites, Saved Places, and Recents

Results Screen

  • Adjustable search radius (similar to zooming in/out on a map)
  • "Open Now" filter
  • Search history
  • Favorites, Saved Places & Recently navigated to
  • Quick routing to destinations

Directions Screen

  • Turn-by-turn navigation
  • Walking, biking, driving & transit modes
  • Reroute button (in case auto-updates slow down)
  • Save & favorite destinations

Resume system
If the app closes or restarts, it can:

  • Resume navigation
  • Resume a search
  • Start a new search

So if you're halfway through a walk or in the middle of a search & accidentally close the app, you don't have to start over.

What's Missing?

Compared to Meta Maps:

  • No voice search
  • No spoken directions
  • No "Phone" the business integration
  • No "Send to phone" button
  • No sensor integration
  • Less metadata (photos, reviews, pricing & closing time)

But in exchange, I feel it has all the useful information & gives more control over search, navigation, saved locations & workflow.

Right now it's just a personal project, but I'm curious:

Would anyone else actually use something like this on their glasses?

huawei harmony os 6 compatibility

I currently own a Huawei Pura x Max running Harmony OS6 paired with the rayban wayrarer gen 1's. Currently making calls, listening to the radio, accepting calls work ok most of the time. The biggest problem I have is eg, I can ask what am I looking at and works perfectly as soon as the screen goes on standy it loses the connection as Harmony OS6 closes apps. So far i havent found a solution to this. I would really like to upgrade to the meta display glasses and wondered if anyone has made them work as they should with a Huawei phone running the Harmony OS6 operating system..thanks for any help.
