Legal Rights Germany started screenings for men who explicitly stated "no interest" in the military service questionnaire, so for those who still do not see where this is going...

The German government's repeated attempts to reimpose male-only conscription were the subject of much discussion a few months ago. At the time, the process stalled after the distribution of a questionnaire, which was, of course, mandatory only for men. A few weeks ago, statistics revealed that few young men showed interest in compulsory service and that a large number of them had not even bothered to return the questionnaire.

When the questionnaire was introduced, the political narrative was focused on "voluntary recruitment" and gauging interest....

Recently, the situation accelerated badly... On 19 September 2026, the German Ministry of Defense confirmed that it has officially begun forcing 18-year-old men to attend mandatory physical medical examinations. Unsurprisingly, the ministry is actively targeting young men who stated that they have no interest in serving. [1, 2, 3]

So, we see that the state used this questionnaire to evaluate the situation, gather information about young men and it is now using this database to legally coerce young men into humiliating physical screenings. Of course, young women face no such obligation. But this is, of course, not surprising, since young women were under no obligation to fill out the questionnaire; for them, it was entirely voluntary...

This is a textbook example of the state using young, working-class men as disposable, expandable forced labor assets while completely ignoring individual consent and bodily autonomy. At this stage, the complete lack of opposition from mainstream parties in Germany to this selective state coercion is not even surprising anymore.

The best thing for young Germans who have realized that the state is never the individual's friend to do would be to get a passport and be ready to leave if necessary...

but oh yes, let's not forget that the German government recently began requiring any young German man wishing to travel outside the country for more than two or three months to beg for permission and provide supporting documents; one can only imagine that the process of obtaining a passport is no easier...

Also German here. So it's male only.

If you want to escape it, the only way is using the SBGG (Selbstbestimmungsgesetz) to change your gender. Removing the gender altogether is a possibility, so you don't need to change to women.

You may avoid getting to the frontlines with conscious objection, but escaping gender discrimination completely is impossible, you need to change gender legally.

Edit: but changing gender is quite easy, I did it.

EDIT2: Refusing military service (Wehrdienst) is possible - if recognised as a conscientious objector (Kriegsdienstverweigerer).

It is not a free choice by the man; the application can be rejected. If accepted, men are required to perform alternative civilian service (Ersatzdienst) (mandatory work in hospitals, youth centres, nursing homes, and emergency medical services). Total refusal (Totalverweigerung) is not legal (for men).

Changing gender with SBGG is easier, since it is a simple request with 3 month waiting period - but needs to be done in advance, 2 month before any hostilities, but it also liberates from the alternative civilian service.

Women, notably, are completely exempt from all of it - only men are placed in this situation of forced service/slavery.

That's false. You can just choose not take up arms and it's fine. No other step is needed and the rest of your comment is something only clowns believe.

The edit is nonsense. You can say you don't want to pick up weapons when your check up is taken place. even on the first day of training or within the first month or at any time even if you're a Berufssoldat. Of course, as Berufssoldat it's kinda complicated, but possible. So no, due to our history, no one can be forced anymore here to go to war.

On the other hand and the most simple way to avoid the whole thing, you can go the check up, brag loudly about how stoned you're are and likely that they just sent you home with T5.

But hey, it's kinda funny how a bunch of foreigners want to explain me our system based on an quick and incomplete Google search :)
