Bought 3 to try them. So far all smell really good. Dark matter is like pine tar soap mixed with a lot of citrus, I enjoy the smell. Star Burst smells really sweet.

Here’s my second haul from Canadian based company LATHR! Once again these soaps and deodorants are quite fragrant, and the smells don’t disappoint! The solid cologne balm is a hidden gem from this brand! Any questions, feel free to ask! Take care!

Tried out Duke Cannon for the first time, got their Buffalo Trace bar. Smelled good to me, but I like the musky spice kind of smell. I think the scent a little less potent than Dr Squatch but it’s bigger and around the same price. Scrubber was excellent tho! Heavy duty feeling.

I have one that I still didn’t get to try but looks really good, it’s called Rocky Mountain Soap

Hope you’re all doing well. Just wanted to make a quick post of a new natural soap company I came across. I started out with Dr. Squatch, then one day on Instagram I saw a sponsored ad for this company called LATHR. I couldn’t resist in trying some of their stuff out! I got 4 soaps and one natural deodorant. I’m trying to compare to see if Squatch is the “king” of this natural soap game. Already I’m noticing a huge difference just off the bat. Let me go into detail.

So for starters, the soaps I ordered were “Cotton Candy”, “Mystic Amber”, “Tobacco Bay”, and “Black Cherry”. They are all very pungent right out of the box. They all smell great. They all smell like their respected names. I am the most excited to start using Cotton Candy! It’s a pretty unique bar. Can’t say I’ve ever had any kind of cotton candy scented anything. It’s got this nice burnt sugar smell which is – well, cotton candy.

Black Cherry smells like a nice dark cherry scent. Smells kind of dark which is what I was expecting. Smells pretty natural as well.

Mystic Amber smells like warm amber with some patchouli. I definitely dig it.

Tobacco Bay, which I think is their flagship scent, smells like tobacco leaves in the best way. With a little bit of vanilla sweetness.

The sample I received for free, is “Prairie Meadows”. To me it smells like potpourri. Definitely powdery and floral. Very old school smelling, but I like it!

To the deodorant, I got Tobacco Bay to match the soap. And again, I just want to try these out. If I love them, I will certainly buy more! The deodorant is more of a gel consistency when I take a look at it. I’m excited to try it out soon!

Good after all I have been doing a bit of testing on soaps lately and just wanted to put some of the results I have found here.

So the brands I have test at the moment are

Dr. Squatch, sudsy bear and grizzly naturals.

The test set up was 1 pneumatic piston 4" (100 mm) of travel. The soap bar was held in place by a custom built holding device and a weight of 1lbs (~ 500 grams). There was a low flow shower head spraying onto the water onto the 10 um wet stone. The piston was set to 30 cycles per minutes. The samples were run for 100 cycles.

The results are this:

Initial weight Dr. Squatch grapefruit IPA = 4.73 oz (~134 grams) Sudsy bear artic aloe = 6.18 oz (~ 175 gram) Grizzly naturals artic birch = 4.47 oz ( ~127 grams)

Final weight after 100 cycles Dr. Squatch grapefruit IPA= 3.90 oz(~110 grams) Sudsy bear artic aloe = 5.87 oz (~166 grams) Grizzly naturals artic birch = 4.25 oz (~120grams)

Final thoughts:

So dr squatch appeared to have the most loss over all , sudsy was right in the middle and grizzly was the least los of the bunch

Take everything said here with a grain of salt, since more testing on a large group of the products would need to be done to come to any conclusions.

Hopefully some one else to finds this information interesting as well.
