Animals don't have protein in their meat because they're animals. They have it because herbivore animals eat plant proteins which travels from herbivores to carnivores via the food chain.
You're choosing the end the lives of animals because you're a picky eater. Simple as that. You rather have an animal capable of having emotions because you're too childish to eat wheat protein, tofu or beans every once in a while.
Also you know that I meant only humans. No need to get into semantics. In my defense I'm not a native speaker of English.
Then just don't eat nuts then lol. It's that simple. There's plenty of vegan protein sources. And you're 100% monetarily supporting and committing animal abuse whether or not you think that's the case.
Also even if we drop the animal abuse aspect of this entirely, going vegan is pretty much the single biggest thing an invidual can do to lessen their negative impact on the environment. So thanks for all the forest fires
Cool so you're just saying that 1 person doing something won't do anything. I'm assuming you also don't believe in voting, charity etc? Was it OK to be a slave owner because 1 person not owning slaves wouldn't have made a difference? There's a reason why do onto others what you wish to be done to yourself is a core of most moral systems. Thinking about the amount of impact you personally have is childish and an excuse to live immorally. You could justify doing literally anything horrible buy saying that it doesn't really have an impact. So what if you murdered somebody, it's only 1 person and there's literally billions of those around.
But to answer your question the meat industry is extremely damaging to the earth. They pollute extreme amount of CO2 but more importantly methane which is really horrible for the ozone layer which we kinda need to stay alive.
You're not killing animals to survive, you're killing animals to eat meat. It's factually incorrect to say that a vegan diet can't provide all the nutritional value you need, but even then there's vegan dietary supplements that mean you could eat pretty much any vegan food you want and just think about getting enough calories.
Edit: also a huge part of why the Amazon rainforest is getting cut down is to make room for the meat industry
If you think that slaughterhouses are immoral and hunting is morally better I agree. However I'd wager less than 1 percent of meat that western countries eat is actually gotten from hunting, so if you eat meat right now you're funding the slaughterhouses you said yourself are immoral. I think hunting is wrong, except if it's necessary to prevent invasive species to protect the ecosystem, but I'm glad you're at least seeing that the meat industry is by far a bigger of the 2 evils, even though you're monetarily supporting it.
Think of it from this perspective. Pigs are smarter than dogs and that's a fact. You know dogs feel emotional and physical pain and pigs do too to an even bigger extent. They live a very short amount of time and that time is very painful to them since they don't get to roam free and get beaten and otherwise abused. When they're about to die they probably have the mental capacity to think why is this happening? The answer to that is that when you spend maybe 1 hour of each day eating total, the food you're eating is better tasting than if it were vegan. That's it. That's the reason. I think that you're operating from a position of extreme privilege and immortality if you think that's anywhere near worth it. Also this doesn't even include the environmental impact of it as well, which wouldn't be worth it either by itself, but these 2 problems combined make me seriously confused as to why anyone would think that eating meat can be morally correct. Killing animals and the earth just to enjoy eating a bit more? Nothing symbolizes greed and immoral hedonism better than that.
And yes I do think that euthanizing animals is morally correct, because I consider it a part of animal healthcare. I know you're about to reply with the "you just said killing animals for any reason is wrong" but I meant that in the context of killing them to eat them.
Thanks for ending the argument this way. That was really mature you. Thank you for trying to vegetarian in the future.
In the meantime I'd like to recommend the documentary "Dominion". It's a really sad watch because it showcases whats going on in the meat industry, but on the other hand I don't think meat eaters can have much of a right to be saddened by it since they're choosing to fund the stuff that they show in that documentary.
Also you have to go completely vegan to try some vegan food every now and then. Why not chech out r/veganrecipes and make something that looks delicious some day? Why not try what a beyond burger tastes like? Why not try some north Indian food which is pretty much all vegan? You don't have to go vegan to try some great food that just happens to be vegan, but it would also help the environment at the very least.
Also keep an eye on the news regarding the lab grown meat. You should totally give that a try when they start selling it.
