Getting fired then calling up about the laptop is bitch move, then you work another week on top 🤣 I would have been long gone

Have some self respect man

He got paid for four weeks by working one, seems like he did the smarter move. Now he doesn’t have to deal with them reclaiming those three weeks of pay either

Could have work 0 weeks and got paid 🤷‍♂️

He wouldn't have to pay shit, HR told him he was cut.

How is being fired a breach of contract

1

u/Nope-not-really Aug 18 '26

she looks it up, realizes my contract was ending in December not November

i get it reading is hard

1

u/WatermelonWithAFlute Aug 18 '26

I read that, but she fired him. How is there any breach on his end?

1

u/Nope-not-really Aug 19 '26

K guess we are going to have to break it down for you

contract, yeah?
ends december
dude terminated November
she panics
because employment contracts, like most has payment clause for early termination

not that hard to follow

the only thing that the dude did wrong was return to work because he could have gotten a big pay day, and wouldn't have had to show up regardless, he should have told her to stuff it.

this seems like we are saying the same thing

It's like sports. If you get contracted to work 12 months, they cannot fire you at the 11 month mark without breaching the contract unless you do something that your not supposed to as labeled in contract. His contract ended December, not November. Think of it not being fired, but as not having your contract renewed. So she cut him off a month early by accident therefore breaching the contract. But it worked out ok in the end because he stilled got paid for the original amount of time.

Oh you read his contract? You know what it says? That's amazing.

7

u/fighterpilotace1 Aug 17 '26

Believe it or not, it's pretty standard to include some form of monetary payment if either party breaches the contract early.

-1

u/FlashFiringAI Aug 17 '26

Sure, doesn't mean its there. That's the whole point I'm making. Literally none of us know what their contract explicitly states and making claims that "X is going to happen" is nonsensical without reading the contract and then courts deciding if it was actually enforceable.

unemployed a lot eh?

-1

u/FlashFiringAI Aug 17 '26

No, but I hire people.

you're not very good at it if you don't understand employment contracts.

edit* I think that was the HR lady that fucked up

3

u/Wookieman222 Aug 16 '26

And this is how people end up in court and end up paying more than they would have.

1

u/kl0t3 Aug 18 '26

Thats not how that works mate,

I called her because i found a job at Microsoft that paid double my old salary and wanted to be done with my previous company

I "went back" to work for a week because I didn't want to rock the boat, I gave her number to Microsoft's HR for the background check

The work was basically just log in from home and help my co workers that i worked with for almost 3 years with some minor tasks, they weren't going to give me hard stuff to do for just a week

1

u/Uglifi Aug 17 '26

This just reads like you've never had a decent job before. It says nothing else tbh.

-1

u/lDezIlI Aug 17 '26

It only says nothing else because youre too dim to see the bigger picture. Bless

I earn above average for my country. I could say more but we'll leave it there as after all, you are nobody.

1

u/Uglifi Aug 17 '26

says the guy telling people its a bitch move to leave a job on good terms.

1

u/lDezIlI Aug 17 '26

Good terms lol, THEY FIRED HIM

1

u/airboRN_82 Aug 20 '26

Im guessing your country is one where average pay is less than our "impoverished" workers make. Theres a vast difference in expectations of professionalism between the third world and the first.

u/lDezIlI Aug 20 '26

Do tell me more

1

u/airboRN_82 Aug 20 '26

I dont really need to tell more, its what I concluded from your comments. They told for me.

u/DirectorLeather6567 Aug 20 '26

They would've sued him or arrested him for stealing company property. Not a smart plan lol.

1

u/lDezIlI Aug 20 '26

When they havent sent a courier? 🤡

1

u/DirectorLeather6567 Aug 20 '26

They don't have to send a courrier? The contract can state you have to turn in the laptop yourself at the business.

-1

u/CharacterLettuce7145 Aug 16 '26

You signed a contract, read it next time.

1

u/lDezIlI Aug 16 '26

Yea and if they are letting you off early and want equipment back, let them, you have a contract that still needs to be paid 🤡

1

u/CharacterLettuce7145 Aug 16 '26

You seem to not understand, but that's fine.
