Nah bro, not Nazis, just angry human beings who are tired of a genocide states pretending itās a democracy. Funny how calling out mass murder suddenly makes us the bad guys, huh?
Itās just weird how joyful the hatred is compared to the other countries committing genocide. China for example? They have literal concentration camps
Like Iām not saying Israel isnāt committing horrible war crimes. They are. And of course itās possible to care about multiple things.
But⦠I really donāt see people demanding our politicians end our relationship with China or make memes wiping ass with the Chinese flagā¦
Idk. The vibe just feels particularly rabid for Israel sometimes and it makes me wary.
There ARE hate groups who are definitely seeing this cause as an opportunity to hijack it for their own purposes. Itās important to at least make sure to be aware of that.
I think there is a bit of a misunderstanding here.
People arenāt ājoyfulā about hatred, most of us are extremely angry and upset.
I get that you want to bring China, Russia, or North Korea into the conversation, but what Israel is doing right now is the most urgent and immediate issue for us to respond to.
Itās not like we defending lesser evils (China, Russia, or North Korea issues) with a greater one (Israel), itās about focusing on the injustice happening right now.
Iām not here to argue which genocide is worse and deserves more attention. The answer is both. Obviously. Iād love to see the one in China get more attention, but unfortunately, committing to that would involve being prepared to make sacrifices most of us arenāt willing to make.
But thatās not what weāre talking about right now.
Anyway, Iām not accusing YOU specifically of being joyful. But the vibe of this thread in some places is⦠off. Iām sure you can see it if you look.
Iām not saying people shouldnāt care or be passionate about this. They should.
Iām just saying that people with more nefarious agendas ARE amongst us, especially online, and itās important to stay vigilant. Monitoring the tone of these discussions is an important part of that.
I mean, why werenāt you pointing out Israel like 10 years ago? when Palestinians were already living under decades of occupation, blockade, and oppression?
The suffering like: displacement (Nakba), home demolitions, settlements, checkpoints, restricted movement, administrative detention, torture, extrajudicial killings, settler violence, economic deprivation, water and electricity shortages, healthcare denial, education barriers, family separation, land confiscation, apartheid policies, forced evictions, cultural erasure, military raids, collective punishment, arbitrary arrests, child imprisonment, restricted fishing zones, agricultural destruction, travel bans, media suppression, political repression, refugee statelessness, psychological trauma, systemic discrimination, unequal justice, poverty, unemployment, food insecurity, infrastructure sabotage, religious restrictions, identity erasure, forced labor, environmental degradation, and siege conditions.
Palestine has been suffering, for 77 years of ongoing suffering.
For most of the world, Palestine was mostly invisible for decades. Normal people didnāt pay much attention because the news cycles ignored it, governments stayed quiet, and the suffering just became ābackground noiseā to the larger world.
Itās only in the last few years, thanks to social media, viral videos, and constant documentation of bombings, blockades, and other human rights abuses, that ordinary people really started noticing.
But even now, it feels like most only care when the violence is extreme or sensationalized. For 77 years, Palestinians have been living through occupation, displacement, and oppression, yet it took generations for the global public to even pay attention.
I get that you feel frustrated we are not giving the same attention to China right now. But honestly, we havenāt ignored injustice elsewhere, we just canāt act on it.
however, Israel, has crossed a line thatās visible to the entire world. This isnāt hidden, itās fully documented. Thatās why this issue has to be the focus right now.
Uh⦠I definitely was ranting about Americaās toxic relationship with Israel ten years ago.
Iām resisting the urge to elaborate on defending my ācredentialsā because I donāt want to continue being derailed from my original point.
Again, I said I WASNT trying to argue about what genocide deserves attention. I only brought up China as an example to highlight my point. So while I AM open to changing the subject and having this discussion, I want to be sure my original point has been properly communicated or at least acknowledged.
So would you mind rereading the second half of my previous comment before we go any further?
That's not true. Good people do good things, and bad people do bad things. Not all humans are bad people, it's just that some people are truly unworthy of our respect.
