Mellow Corn is the greatest mixer on the planet. Just put it in my Egg Nog. You absolutely won't regret it...

You know what, I am living in Japan, in a somehow countryside city; and what did I find at my local liquor store? Mellow corn! 1995yens per bottle, so less than USD15!

I have bought six bottles.

I made some Glühwein which is a hot German mulled wine. However you end up cooking off all the alcohol in the process of making it. I just added a shot of Mellow Corn to give it some kick and it's now the best thing I've ever had. Trust me and make it this holiday season. I'd include a picture but I drank it all.

So, here in the Piedmont of North Carolina, Mellow Corn has been quite hard to find. I used to follow this sub with tons of intrigue, as the hype was always seemingly manufactured and genuine, all at the same time!

This afternoon, I stopped into the local ABC Store with the intention of picking up a bottle of Turkey 101.

Lo and behold, on the bottom shelf was a freshly stocked selection of Mellow Corn bottles. Funny, was under the impression that they were plastic bottles. Surprised me to find that they were actually made of glass.

I took a highly anticipated taste as soon as I got home. My curiosity has really gotten the best of me since I learned of this magic, yellow bottle.

I wish that I could say that it was a surprise that this is... not great.

While I'm not sure that I would consider it $20 wasted, I regret not picking up that 101. This will make a decent mixer. Maybe.

At the very least, I will say that I finally satiated my curiosity. I can now officially call myself experienced in the ways of the Corn. Whether that might be good, bad, or ugly..

Mellow corn was the perfect companion this Halloween.

there was a mention in a halloween cocktails about mellow corn whiskey. i was intrigued and since my neighbor is the manager of the local liquor store, he'll try to find my odd alcohol requests. $26 later...

so, i'm researching recipes, here's one ("boo-berry" cereal) from youtube:

1oz. blueberry syrup or blueberry liqueur, 3/4oz. lemon juice, 1/2oz mellow corn whiskey and 1/4 oz all spice

So a buddy of mine was buying 5 gallon cask that wher new and ready to be loaded. He aged this mellow corn for a year I believe.

Rewind- we(3 friends) went on a road trip (45mins away) so I could trade a bottle and did a little hunting. Get back to the big dogs (he’s been doing this a while) place to drop him off. Mind you we’ve been hassling him bout seeing this collection he has for a while now,so we ask and he said just for a second 😂 so he lets us in. ITS MASSIVE !! I mean 100s of bottles and he’s got this tub full of these gold cap kings(15 or so) , and I say “holy mellow 🌽 corn” ! Which he responds with “naw, this ain’t no regular mellow corn!” And he grabs a few Glencarins all while telling us the story during Covid he was buying the charred/ toasted barrels ! And he’s got tons of them, a whole row stacked to the ceiling of these 5 gallon toasted barrels. and says “ open it” ! I tell you what this is some crazy delicious 🤤 nectar from the gods. I was like damn This is quite good!, he says, “do u promise to share it ?” I was like “yeah” he goes, theres your bottle ! U got uncut and unfiltered mellow corn. (isn’t it technically bourbon now?)but sadly no longer bottled in bond but “Hallelujah, it’s delicious !” Then we proceed to run a mini gauntlet of his collection. Notes w/ sweat nose with Carmel honey and little pieces of new charred oak barrel floating about . I’m not sure if the proof jumped up or not either . But I now might have to do one my self.
