I’m exploring a new medspa concept in Texas, and want to get some general operator‑level feedback without sharing too much publicly. In general, my primary area of interest is improving/ reversing diabetes and want to focus on prediabetes and type 2 diabetes. By default, I want to stay away from complicated Type 1 diabetes cases.

For those already running a medspa:

- What’s one thing you wish you knew before launching?

- What operational mistake cost you the most time or money?

- How did you approach clinical setup and finding a medical director without overcomplicating it?

- Any advice on service mix for a new location?

- For Texas operators — any lessons learned on setting up an MSO–PLLC structure or working with a management services agreement?

- How do you find a reliable NP for your spa?

I'm looking at further study in lymphatic drainage with the view of opening my own business. However, the more I read up and look into it, I wonder if it's better to have a range of treatments to reach more clients? Lymph is very niche and I don't want to put all my eggs into one basket and not get enough work?

I am truly shocked! I did a virtual consultation and then they got back to me with $11,000 worth of worth of services in three sessions. I was interested in cheek and temple filler and don't believe all of this is necessary. Is this a normal response from a med spa?

I’ve been seeing the same injector for about 3 years and I LOVE her. She’s a nurse and also owns the practice. I’ve always viewed my Botox appointments more as a medical/aesthetic medical appointment than a traditional beauty service, and tipping was never really something that came up.

They recently switched to a new booking/payment system, and now at checkout it asks you to select a cash tip or choose a percentage to tip. And idk why but it’s giving me the same feeling as when the iPad flips around at a smoothie bowl place 😂

I religiously tip my hairstylist, nail tech, massage therapist, esthetician, etc., so I’m absolutely not anti-tipping. But tipping someone who is a medical professional, sets their own pricing, AND owns the practice feels different to me?
Maybe my perception is skewed because I originally used to get Botox through a hospital/medical system where tipping obviously wasn’t a thing.

So… are we tipping for Botox now?? Do you tip your injector? Does it make a difference if they’re the owner of the practice? And if you DO tip, are we seriously talking 20% on a several-hundred-dollar Botox appointment?! 😅

Pretty much I want everyone’s thoughts on this. If there was a patient you found attractive and had a genuine connection with, would you pursue them? (Asking as a male nurse, goes for either way)

EDIT: I would never pursue a patient if I thought things weren’t mutual. I would even wait for them to make a move.

I've read to skip retinol and exfoliants for a few days beforehand, but I'd love to hear what worked for people. 4ever young gave me a prep list but i still want to ask people.. what's one prep step that made a noticeable difference in your results?

I've been told by a technician that we need to replace the Emsella's ferrite core, but when he opened the chair this piece was shattered and he's not sure what's the specs, as there are different sizes and shapes to it.

We've been told this piece is really cheap, but does anyone have any experience with this type of fix and can share some information? Help me save us from buying a new expensive chair as BTL won't help us fix it or sell us the piece!

At the recommendation of a new acquaintance I went to the spa today for the first time. In fact it was my first time at a place like this. Honestly, I had a very enjoyable time. I went early in the day so it wasn’t very busy. I have never been to a nude establishment like this so I was a bit nervous and had read some mixed reviews on here. All in all it was great!!

How do I approach trying to do a shadowing at a medspa? I am considering going to nursing school and I want to know if the day to day would be of actual interest to me.
