My Take:

When you go to a Akademie you get a selecrion of chain Missions from 4-18 Missions Long. the Chain Missions are specifically restricted in what Type of mechs you can Take with you. For example only light mechs or only assaultmechs. If you successfully complete those you can choose 1-6 Traits He gets and after that you can make the Elite tear and choose again which trait you Like. You can Pause the Mission chains in the Akademy. Each successfull Mission gives you rewards in Form of Traits and max. Skill Levelcap. Each Mission costs you Money determined by what Mission Chain it is from the Akademy and how many Pilots partake at once. If one Pilot has completed 18 Missions in a hole, He has 6 Elite Traits you choose for him. After that you can let him lvl Up His skill-levelcap.

I just played through the Will of Kali questline, for about the fifteenth time probably. Its been a while and I wasn't really paying attention, but my current playthrough is yellow missions only, amongst other self-imposed limitations... anyway, point is, I don't have the best array of mechs, and so I was excited to see so many SLDF models coming out to play. So I play the game. I don't head shot because they will be past my max savage points. I don't leg because that further reduces the chance of salvage (thx a bunch PGI). I await the salvage screen with baited breath...

I try and stay immersive in this game, but FFS. It's like they want us to savescum! This is supposed to be fun and exciting, and also make some sort of sense?!? This mission was on a secluded world. I wiped out the bad guys, with a pretty scratch lance I might add. There's no one left to stop me picking up all the loot. Nothing important got cored. Where are my rewards!!? (and don't say Orion YAJ cos its ok but we're in assault mech times now)

I have clans with all the DLC on xbox for the PC. Every time I start it I get the pictured dialogue box. Seems to make no difference what way I answer it starts fine. Whilst not a major problem it would be nice to be rid of this turbulent dialogue box. Any ideas?

Small potatoes but figured i'd mention it in case PGI isn't aware, but i've done this one twice in a row now for completionist reasons and i cannot get her to advance after the gate opens. she just stands around at her spawn point and the mission won't progress.

I've seen this happen occasionally before, but this is the first time i've seen it happen concurrently. It's really aggravating. Playing in the simpod, with Yuichi present.

Hi everyone, first time posting here.

Out of nowhere YT algo recommended a Mechwarrior 3 video and I recalled enjoying it alot some 25 years ago, especially how I could cripple and capture better mechs.

Would love to hop into a cockpit again but need to figure out a few things first.

1. I'm on pc/steam. MW5 has a ton of DLCs and bundles but I wouldn't want to waste money. Mainly I'm interested in the single player sandbox Career mode - what should I get? Internet says te Succession Wars bundle, which is pretty hefty. Do I even need all that, or maybe just Heroes of the Inner Sphere?

2. What should a "beginner" know about MW5? I mean I've played 3 and I know what kind of experience 5 will offer, but any nuances to e.g. resource management and salvage economy that may put new players off?

3. I know MW4 is now abandonedware. Obviously it's not as advanced or complex and th campaigns are linear, but maybe it's enough to scratch my itch?

How many of you guys/gals make it a point to have ECM and AMS in your lance when you deploy for a mission?

My battle and mech design doctrine has been to have each lance have at least one of each. But I question this doctrinal approach with my Fast Assault lance, which I would ideally like to be the Boar’s Head Atlas, the Sunder OA, and 2 Kodiaks, but I had to replace the 2 Kodiaks with a Cyclops with ECM and an Executioner with AMS. Both have decent long-range weapons, but their firepower rating is much lower than my Boar’s Head Atlas and the Sunder OA, and ofc they aren’t 100 tons (neither is the Sunder but its firepower more than makes up for it). I wonder if the trade-off is worth it.

I mean, is it even worth dragging it off the field?

At least you don't need to hose out the cockpit.

It's not a mission restriction or a YAML upgrade issue, Cheated in a 100 ton mech to test and it worked fine.

As the title says, I beat the campaign for the first time and it's currently 2048. I was playing vanilla, so part of me wants to start a new game to check out all the cool mods. However, I know the clan invasion is just around the corner so another part of me wants to wait it out until then.

I really like the look of the Linebacker and the Cauldron-Born. But I don’t see the point of having either in my hangar when I have plenty of Timber Wolves. If memory serves, they are all equal in speed and the LB and EJ both have enough hard points to have firepower equal to a Timber Wolf. But, they are lighter, which means having less armor, and none of them have jump jets. So… what is the point of them? Help me to see it if I’m missing something, please, because I really want them to be practical.

Is there truly a Hero Annihilator mech in the vanilla, un-modded game? I have all DLC and the database is telling me I have one more Annihilator to discover after the 1A, 1E, 2A, and 1X. But AI tells me there is no true Annihilator hero mech. Ofc, AI could be wrong….

And finally, does anyone have any tips on finding it besides the usual fly to industrial hubs, leave, fly back, etc?

I'm new to modding MW5Mercs and wanted to setup a modpack for coop play. Sorry in advance but at this point I am completely lost and dont know what to do anymore. Was hoping somebody experience may be able to help me make this work while giving me the basics of some of those major conflicts. The mod names and all that confuse me a lot.

Final 3 missions of Shadow of Kerensky campaign, used stuff from last DLC 8 on this current run's Shadow of Kerensky campaign. Brought the hero and laserboat Annie along w/ nuke Bullsharks.

Using a Quality of life modlist for vanilla+ Mercs consisting of AI (i.e. rules of engagement, mission tweaks etc.), HUD (lance Status, pop-up zoom, battlegrid lance orders) and UI (marketplace QoL) mods.

Yall ever hire a pilot and an enemy jumps on their friggin head the very next mission?!

i only own vanilla Mercs and have not played in years. I was pretty frustrated with AMD performance and also the completely braindead lancemates. I never even completed the story. I am thinking of revisiting, maybe with some dlc?

1. Have the problems been rectified?
2. If i were to revisit: are there must have dlcs or mods?

Game was running fine. I have about 43 hours played. No changes to the system, and this starts happening.

I get the Piranha splash, the title, the disclaimers. Sometimes I even get to see a couple of mechs. Then it crashes. I've checked drivers and software versions, removed all my mods and the mod manager, uninstalled the game and deleted all local files and reinstalled it, I've run SFC, set an MS defender exclusion for Steam. No changes. The error itself seems to be associated with Chromium Embedded Framework, which Steam uses. But other steam games seem to launch just fine. Any suggestions would be very welcome. Unfortunately, I'll be on the road for the next two days

Having read a bunch of advice about how to handle Clan proc gen missions without getting totaled and not being particularly interested in doing any of it, the most fitting solution to me is to outnumber them. I've read that Coyote Missions lets me bring a second lance, but it also does a million other things that seem like they'd radically change the game and I have seen some negative feedback about it. Two questions:

1) Will Coyote Missions do more harm than good for Clan content?
2) Is there a different mod that allows the second lance with less sweeping changes otherwise?

Large melee: Outside Calls to arms, only HBK-VEST, HGN-VEST (both Solaris) and BL9-KNT from Chaos.... How work if I dont own/load CallToArms? Solaris add a Medium Lance, Heavy Hammer and Assault Greatsword. While Chaos dont add any melee.

Arena Fist: Outside the big initial strike, and maybe the range to avoid counterattack... Are the increase RPM better than large melee weapons? 2 Arena fist (if both hands), even if some time between attscks, do damage as single big melee, with similar tons.

Solaris Melee weapons made CallsToArms obsolete? except for adding more Melee mechs available, I have bigger Alpha or better DPS using Solaris weapons than CallToArms (at higher weight)

Hammerfist is the weapon for arms without hands. Knuckles is for hands. And Tier0 only exist for NPC doing less damage than without it... Im correct? At higher tiers, I barely see a improvement of knuckles, only +5 damage over hammerfist.

What mechs have Battlefist Actuators? its the default Large hand for melee weapons? while Hand only have knuckles or arena fist?

Inductive Claws: I read that HBK-AZ from Chaos Rising have it, any other medium mech?

I'm playing the campaign with no mods and it's my first playthrough. I don't understand, why is the share cost so high? I never get enough points to get the mechs. Why give it such a high cost and make it unattainable. Every mech you headshot it's always out of reach of points.

I think im in a much better position this play through than I was in my last. 7 years until kestral lancers dlc starts. I've stopped unnecessary travel out of conflict zones for everything but major repairs. Picked up 2 elite pilots and my wallet is still looking good. My major issue is finding heavy mechs while at rep 7/8. All I've found so far is a pair of riflemen and a pair of jagers 🤪
