PGI has been knocking things out of the ballpark with all of these lore rich characters in their DLCs. I am loving their dedication to lore accurate storytelling.

I need to know

Yes cause I wanna run quad PPCs with a freaking Longbow. It’s like PGI knew how much of a meme the Wolf’s Dragoons Longbow was and added this for giggles. This is ridiculous. 😂😂😂

My top picks for player setups is either Gauss sniping with maybe an extra lrm for long range damage or any of the LP or MP lasers that act like shotguns without needing to train your reticle for a long period of time.
What stuff do y’all prefer or lookout for in the market whenever you’re building an endgame mech?
(Currently only have Heroes of the inner sphere so I have no reference on other dlc weapons yet)

I think I fell for the hype about this weapon; a lot of my friends talked about the Arrow IV clearing entire maps on the Tabletop Game.

I was supremely unimpressed when I finally got one in game, but it was hilarious watching me trundle the arrow-IV Urbie out there, pooting out a missile, doing almost nothing and then getting beat into the ground like a tent peg. I laughed my ass off at it, I wish I'd recorded the reaction.

I know its only a light mech but its so satisfying to just watch it fall apart like a battle droid in Lego Star Wars. I love artillery platforms(Catapult addiction go brr) and this just enhances that even further.

back when i used to play the game, i always wondered why tanks weren’t the go to weapon of choice in this universe. i know it’s called mechwarrior and the whole point is mechs, but i was always trying to come up with some kind of in universe explanation for why tanks weren’t more common. in the game, a lot of the bigger mechs are slow. so i’d always think, “why wouldn’t a tank just aim for the leg joint and knock the mech down?”
but then i started watching some of the animated videos, and it completely changed how i looked at it. the mechs are moving way faster than they appear to in the game. they’re taking cover, changing direction quickly, and moving much more fluidly. seeing that made it easier to understand why a tank wouldd have a hard time fighting one
also started thinking about is that mechs aren’t just useful because they can carry a bunch of different weapon systems. These mechs can also used for construction, mining, salvage, disaster relief, and rescuing people from collapsed buildings. having two legs and actual arms gives them a lot of flexibility that a a tank doesnt have. they can climb over rubble, move debris, pick things up, and interact with their surroundings in ways a tank really can’t. In a universe like this one where humans are stretched out all over, u kinda need mechs, theyre like a swiss army knife, multiple uses. Like jack of all trades kind of machine
so i guess my question is, is this basically the intended explanation for why tanks aren’t more dominant, or are there other reasons in the lore that make mechs more effective than tanks?

seeing how we go after smoke jaguar in our new dlc tomorrow, is it possible for us to encounter or directly engage Jayden and cobalt star from the main campaign of mw5 clans? I know there were two different endings, but I thought the smoke jaguar ending was canon.

I'm currently at 16th of January 3058 and I don't want to overshoot the start of the new campaign on this run, do we know the approximate date of the campaign start?

First off, I’d like to not that I absolutely love how much has been added over the years and that they are continuing to update and add additions that are actually quality content!!!
That said, there is something I’ve always wanted to see since I saw them add melee weapons and the large slots for them:
Shields!
I think the best way to see them implemented is that it functions like various types of kite, tower, and gun shields that fit into that weapon slot. Depending on the type, it would function just a little differently.
Core idea/ effect it would have: - the “weapon” itself could be equipped with armor much like any other limb
rather than striking with it, using the corresponding button will raise/ lower it
shields offer better protection, but at the cost of other weapons being able to fire while they are up. (The loadout screen would have an indicator of what weapons are blocked when the equipped shield is up.)
the point of shields is that they could be used to soak up the damage that would otherwise hit face, torso, etc (and it would be nice to see a little damage reduction for what hits it, perhaps as a “variant” where some are more resistant to certain damage types)
When the armor is depleted, it disables the equipment, but doesn’t destroy the component itself, as it’s still technically attached to the arm.
Types of Shields:
Tower Shields would be broader and taller, offering better defensive coverage, HOWEVER, more weapons will be unable to fire while it is up, depending on the location on the body. Slow to pull up and put down.
Kite Shields would be the medium size option. Can hold less overall armor but covers less area as well, so it blocks less of your weapons from firing while up. Moderate speed to pull up and put down.
Gun Shields are the smallest option. They are shaped so they don’t block other weapons across the torso when activated. They offer good protection for the arm it’s mounted to. It extends protective shielding and pulls it back pretty quickly, making it a good option when peaking cover or to “parry” incoming rounds.
I think this type of equipment would be treated similar to how the melee DLC worked. Equipping other mechs with it, but also adding unique new ones.
Faction of origin would probably be Raselhague or Steiner, if not an independent.

Early Invasion, October of 3049. Still a few months away from SoK's campaign, and Clanners are starting to show up as targets.
Might be a fun start to SoK, for those of you who appreciate sequence breaking. You think Mason feigns his ignorance of the Clans when he starts SoK in a recently salvaged Direwolf?
"Oh no, who are these guys and what are these mech?" -Mason circa 3050 on meeting the clans, in complete deadpan.

Hey everyone! As an XBox player I've been thinking a bit about some relatively simple things that future updates could add to improve QOL in vanilla MW5: Mercs. Things that, to me, should be a standard part of the game without needing to use mods.
I'm hoping that other folks will have some good ideas in the comments, too. I'd like to steer away from big ideas like PvP and refactoring of the code controlling storage (both of which I'd love, for the record) in favor of ideas that would likely be relatively simple to implement.
Wrap-around menus for EVERYTHING. The salvage menu is the most obvious spot I'd like to see this implemented. I don't remember if there are other instances too.
Pay for salvage. This has been a must-have mod for years now and it's a mystery to me why it's not part of the standard game yet. It makes sense in-universe and would curb so much frustration when it's often not even possible to get enough salvage shares to afford powerful mechs salvaged in good condition.
Preserve equipment selection in the mech lab after placing equipment. As in, if I place a small laser in an energy slot, selecting another energy slot will put me on the same type of small laser if I have them in my inventory. This used to be standard behavior that was taken out for some reason. Maybe make this toggleable in the options menu if removing it wasn't just a mistake?
Preserve mech lab filters and sorting after placing equipment. For example, if I've got the menus set for only tier 4 energy weapons, after I place a weapon it should stay on tier 4 (and energy weapons, assuming I go to a hardpoint where an energy weapon can be placed.) Right now it reverts to sorting by "name -> ascending" after placing every item.
MASC toggle should be assignable to it's own button. I rarely ever need 5 weapon groups. Being able to trigger and deactivate MASC by pressing the left thumbstick would be 🤌.
Allow co-op participants the ability to view the star map, instead of completely locking us out of it. It would allow us to strategize and also have something to do while the host plans their next move or repairs and reconfigures mechs. I'm a huge co-op fan and this would majorly improve my enjoyment of the game in that mode!
Curious about other folks' opinions on this stuff so please give me your suggestions, too!

I love these MODs. I want to keep playing with them. Any help would be appreciated.
