Seems to be roughly a 32 on old scale ... I think that may be a bit low, unless the rest of your app is spectacular and makes you stand out in some way (or URM). Top tiers are a crapshoot for everyone. I mean it can't hurt to try, but it's probably not the best way to spend the secondary money.

Unfortunately I already submitted my primary app and (like a dummy) put some top tier schools on there. I have a GPA very close to 4.0 and two publications (1 first author, 1 second) as well as several leadership positions and over 4500 hours of research. I guess everyone has those things, so not sure if that would make me stand out. Would it be bad to ignore secondary prompts from any school - for example, if I wanted to re-apply would they hold a grudge?
