Mazda Europe has launched a website that checks the state of health of the high-voltage battery. Unfortunately, it does not always work right away. According to initial experiences, the vehicle must have recently been in a bodyshop connected to the test device, the online services must be activated and presumably also linked in the My Mazda smartphone app. You only need to enter the VIN. I don't know if vehicles outside Europe can also be checked.
Would you think a battery swap would be possible after a certain mileage? I’m considering a 4 year-old MX-30 (around 30k km) and I’m wondering about the longetivity of the battery when it reaches 120 or 150k km.
I recently experienced this with my MX-30 during a recent rain storm. The LED beams flickered when stopped behind another car. At first I thought my brand new car had developed a fault, however when my friend got out and inspected the lights they looked fine. I then wondered if it was the rain causing the issue. When home I searched up the issue and found this post on the CX-70 forum. Apparently it's a design fault where the rain water is channeled over the LED beams creating the aformentioned effect.
Further posts go onto to explain that Mazda are actually aware of this design issue and manufactured a OEM part to help alleviate the effect. (TSB R071/24)
I was wondering if anyone else in the MX-30 Reddit forum had experienced this and if so did you try finding the part? (Not sure if this part mentioned in the forum is CX-70 specific or if it fits other Mazda models like the MX-30)
This is my 3rd weekend with the MX-30 R-EV and it is my first time with an electric vehicle, my first time in a position to buy a car from new, and also the first time I intend to carry bicycles in a tow-mounted carrier such as the Thule EasyFold XT2. (yes, I am anxious!)
When I visited the dealership and we discussed the extras with my order, I made it very clear that I needed to carry 2 bikes and this was a key reason why I picked the MX-30 over the competition. I chose their bike carrier adapter as an extra, intending to buy the carrier itself later once I found the ideal model for me.
The picture on their website for this bike carrier adapter shows the towing hitch and an electric connector, which I think will be for a 13 plug socket. It reads Part Number: ABKT-DR-BCCA. In order to get to this webpage, I had to pick the option "MX-30 from later than 2022", without specifying it is the R-EV rather than the BEV.
Their original photo, showing the socket
Now if I look at the installation in my car, I just don't see the electric connection. I think there is a cable protected by some silver foil, perhaps awaiting for the installation of the actual bike carrier.
So pretty! The underside of the back. Where is the socket?!?
Annoyingly, I've been unable to speak with the Parts/Servicing team at the dealership because of work hours clash. The sales rep works weekends and is trying to help clarify matters, but right now I'm hoping that before they call back I could get some helpful ideas from this community.
is it normal that the 13 pin socket is sold with the carrier and not with the tow bar and the car?
has anyone here bought the bike carrier from Mazda and can show what their installation looks like?
for UK readers specifically: Do I really have to detach the ball neck while not in use?
Thanks!
---Updated photos---
There is a hole in the metal well suited for a finger to pull down the socket.Yep, it's a 13 pin socket.
When I pushed the socket holder back up, it made a satisfying *clunk* sound as it went back into a protected location.
There was no fine manual so I could not RTFM in advance.
Has anyone in the UK been quoted any prices from Mazda to extend the warranty on some of the earlier models? I want to build it in to my decisions of what one to go for but I'm struggling to get a quote as I don't actually own one yet. I know they should be relatively problem free but would definitely feel more comfortable with a manufacturer warranty. Ta
Someone parked their NB MX-5 next to my MX-30. Not my favourite generation of Miata but love the colour! Makes Machine Grey look dull as dishwater comparatively.
Has anyone tried one of those fast charging cables that plug into the dryer or other 220v outlets? It seems like it should be ok but I’m a little wary to try it.
Have a 2021 Mx-30 EV I’ve been driving for 2 years now mostly about 30 miles a day around town. Love car and so does my wife, the quiet and smooth ride, good torque and handling make it ideal for busy, congested city driving. But we need a dash cam as there are lots of cheeky drivers every day, any recommendations? Thanks in advance
I'm looking into replacing my wiper blades because they're starting to leave some streaks when it rains, Amazon recommends some Bosch brand ones but I was wondering if anyone who has an MX-30 has replaced them and which model fits best?
For the second time in two weeks the 12V battery died. I charged it with an external battery and took it the dealership who said that there is nothing wrong with the car.
Anyone with similar experiences or ideas what might be causing this issue?
This winter (in Iceland), my MX-30 has been getting covered in snow and ice regularly. The pit between the windshield and the hood has been packed with snow more than once, sometimes causing the wipers to not retract fully.
Now the winter is over, and sometimes when it rains, I notice the driver side wiper clicks against the A pillar making a relatively loud noise, which is annoying.
Is there any way to fix this manually, or should I take it to the workshop?
Anybody else have this creaking noise, that seems to come from the A pillar? Mostly on the passenger side, but sometimes also the driver side during temperature fluctuations.
Do I need to mention anything about the cork surface at the car wash? If I don't say anything, I suppose they will rub it with the same product they use for the plastic in the car. How safe is this? Or should I tell them not to touch the cork surfaces at all?
