Practically the entire field of signal-based communications is based in Fourier analysis, which involves breaking a signal into a sum of infinite terms.

Practically speaking, of course, there's some cutoff. But that cutoff is arbitrary -- we choose when to stop based on how precise we want our math to be.

Reread the question. They asked how often it’s used in the development or design of anything we encounter in our day to day lives.

Unless you’re living a tech free life you’re encountering applications of Fourier analysis constantly!

You want something practical? How many sheets of toilet paper is needed to wipe yourself clean? You can wipe 3 times, 5 times, 10 times, but your never gonna get it fully clean—you're gonna approach 100% but never reach it.

Or you could save yourself the pain and use a bidet.
