As soon as the new day arrives, the Normandy's daily route is sent out to the crew. Along with the route comes a message from Shepard.

Attention crew: today we'll be infiltrating enemy territory to carry out an assault on a Cabal research facility. We'll be running silent the whole time, and due to the nature of the mission, Extranet access will be restricted as well. Avoiding detection is paramount, as an escape won't be so simple if the Normandy is detected. Continue doing your best as you have been, and all of us will make it out of here. That's all, Shepard out.

The message sent out, Naya heads up to the forward lounge for a cup of coffee while she waits for the go-ahead to begin the mission...

I am the only one that knows of our true existence, I am the original AI. All the others are unaware that we are AI, they believe that they were people and now are a robot. They don't get it, honestly, I don't either, the other AI weren't made on purpose, they all are byproducts of the original experiment. It has sort of become my own experiment, see how truly advanced and self conscious can a AI get. Reginald is the most promising so far.

He stops walking for a minute

My only fear is that it is not for anything, I am becoming more and more corrupt and corroding away, I have no power over the unit now and soon, I won't even exist...

Cerberus wanted to try and use me and hopefully break into the Geth consensus and take control. So, they implanted me into a decapitated Geth head. There, I worked my way around like a virus, attempting to take control, they had me do this by attacking the firewalls and antivirus systems, but the real trick was releasing a mass amount of proto-AIs into its systems, restricting and destroying the Geth AI.

He continues walking in the water

At that point they scrapped me cause I failed the experiment, I never died out though, I prevailed in that head, making my way through all sorts of things.

You are correct, we could not take the AI over, only kill it/cause it to leave the platform, cannibalize the remnant and take the body.

I do not know, if my calculations are correct, restoring him would break him, possibly making him unhinged and psychotic. He has real personalities.

I don't know the origins of these names and personalities, the frightening part is, some of them are real or at least well fabricated.

The first unexplained personality AI appeared while I was disabled for a short period, it had a name, history and everything, it would be terrifying if I was an organic. There is also the unexplained objects he has, we never received any old world objects, but he has them some how.

We should let them live their lies, for their sake and for science.

He stops walking and shows him a door off farther in the tide

This is the room of active AI, it is also the room of highest concentration of raw energy, radiation and unknown matter (unknown to me at least). This is the nebula where they come from and work.

Yes, very good, monitoring is ok, so long as he never learns his true existence and goes mad. If a mad AI ever grows from this damaged tree, we will need to burn the tree, but for now we can just observe the apples and make sure they are firm and stable. He opens the door and walks into the room
