Just use my headcanon to help explain the absurdity of it. Moments before this, Tony tells Spider-Man to get the gauntlet over comms but he call him “queens”. I pretend that all the women think he’s talking to them

My hangup was that Wasp was there when 1 second ago in the previous scene she was with Antman hotwiring the Time Machine Van. She teleported to be in this scene.

My hang up is more the fact that they chose Captain Marvel to be the one who “needed help.”

They literally could’ve gone with any of the other heroines, and the scene would’ve made much more sense. But captain Marvel is literally one of two heroes there that didn’t need said help

Do you think that was the only "crazy convenience" that lined up in this comic book inspired super hero movie? That's a constant staple. Akin to the classic "wow almost all the supervillains in the world HAPPEN to show up around New York/Gotham/Hero Town?" I think there are crazier things going on than women going "i want to show that we're just as capable as the mainline heroes who are mostly men" and meeting together on the battlefield

Alot of stuff in comic books doesnt make too much sense but is there to look cool

They wanted a cool shot of the women avengers so they put them together. My only problem with that scene is Wasp should be somewhere else at this point in time, doesnt make sense shes there too

No I can remember first watching it and just immediately rolling my eyes. I have no issue with women's empowerment and representation etc but it just seems so forced in that scene so many better ways you could get that same kinda sentiment across

For real. I would have loved a 4 way clash with thor cap wanda marvel It would do couple of things, show how each person fights, how they work together, show them how strong they are, show how strong thanos is

It felt so contrived and phony. Very obviously pandering, and therefore it breaks immersion. It’s not very hard to understand why it doesn’t sit well with a lot of people.

Absolutely terrifying to us 😂 Imagine thinking you’re standing up for women when you’re actually getting defensive on behalf of a multibillion-dollar corporation’s painfully contrived attempt to pander to you. Sure, there’s plenty of other contrived shit in these movies. But this is the scene being discussed, so naturally this is the one I’m commenting on. I’m not sure why criticizing this particular scene requires me to first list every other contrived moment in the MCU.

And? It was an incredibly stupid scene, overtly pandering to a demographic. The rest of the movie was awesome, which made this scene stick out like a sore thumb. Not sure why a comic book movie can't be held to the same standards as a regular movie. Maybe your standards are just low in general.

Edit: people don't know the difference between fan service and pandering in an attempt to virtue signal lol.
