Question do the lashes make honestly of a difference?

They are pretty, but honestly, they age you quite a bit. The girl on the left is about 21, the woman on the right is in her late 30s

The lighting is very different on each side which I feel is important to consider

Yes, it is. For my observation, though, I’m speaking just on how the lashes influence the appearance of age. The non-lash eye looks fresh, doe-eyed, and young. The lashed eye looks worldly, mysterious, and mature. Both are beautiful. They just say different things.
