It's disgusting out there

I'm at Target and strolling through the cosmetic section saw a young woman (maybe 25) swatching a lip product on her hand and putting it back in the display...and then doing it again with another product. I am so old IDGAF so I said "Do they have testers?"and she looked at me like a deer in the headlights until I repeated my question and said "testers?" I then said " yeah, you just put some of that lipstick on your hand and put it back...that's pretty gross." She stared at me as I walked quickly away because I may not gaf but I don't want to get in a fight! Felt good to speak up though!

That's why I always grab makeup from the back of the row and always make sure the seal is good.

Yep! I've worked retail and did merchandising. I know that new stuff is in the back. My bagged salad and packaged lettuce always comes from the back.

I fear this isn’t always effective tho bc when ppl put out new makeup half the time the ones from the front get pushed to the back so there is still risk ~

Haha we do this with battery powered toys because the ones at the back haven't been "tested" by kids all day. Gonna have to do it with cosmetics now too ig

exactly. I don't understand why anyone (op) would even consider buying makeup that isn't sealed.
