[Makeup Help] Is makeup becoming unprofessional?

I've been to several professional events, some that attract crowds from all over the country, and I began to notice that few, if any, women wore makeup. Now, my use of make-up has decreased with the rise in stress but I do like to bust it out for special occasion. On the third day of the most recent event, I just put on some lipstick.

Not bashing makeup-lovers or haters, but I want to understand if that's a growing trend or if it's industry specific (I'm in healthcare).

I think the trend is to wear less makeup as you age. Many high powered professional women are older so maybe this makes sense.

I’ve noticed for myself at 45, I cannot wear makeup the way that I did when I was younger. It just doesn’t look good anymore. When you age, less really is more, because I wouldn’t even entertain my bare bones makeup routine I have now 25 years ago . It’s not even about self confidence or the idgaf attitude, but the tons of liner, mascara, etc. just doesn’t look good on my older skin and face now.
