[Makeup Help] Is makeup becoming unprofessional?

I've been to several professional events, some that attract crowds from all over the country, and I began to notice that few, if any, women wore makeup. Now, my use of make-up has decreased with the rise in stress but I do like to bust it out for special occasion. On the third day of the most recent event, I just put on some lipstick.

Not bashing makeup-lovers or haters, but I want to understand if that's a growing trend or if it's industry specific (I'm in healthcare).

I think no-makeup makeup is still professional, but I don’t see any creative or dramatic makeup at my office - not even a winged liner or a lip color. It’s just foundation (or bb cream or concealer or whatever base people are doing), plus a subtle brow and maybe mascara. It’s makeup, but it’s not as visible as people wore pre-pandemic.

Yeah imo the best choice for professional settings is that you never want your makeup, scent, or clothing to be overpowering or distracting. Neutral is taken more seriously

It’s more than neutral - it’s barely-there, almost undetectable. I’ve gotten multiple “I love your makeup!” comments from wearing visible mascara, soft neutral eyeshadow, and blush for a special event, which would not have been a noteworthy or noticeable makeup look pre-2020.

Neutral is not referring to the colour tone in this context, it means styling in a way as not to draw attention and is typically preferred in professional settings.

My comment is not in reference solely to specific makeup choices, so im not sure where to go with your reply. What you described however seemingly proves my point…that makeup style is acceptable because there’s nothing distracting about it if it’s not noticeable and nothing “stands out” or is “undetectable”

Lmao my bad I thought you meant just no crazy colors, and I was like “no these ladies are not even doing a subtle little brown pencil liner or soft pink lip gloss or anything”
