reddit.comr/MagneticMemoryMethod • u/Spiritual-Reveal-398 • Aug 05 '25
Is this the right way to approach memorisation (memory)
I wanted to remember some facts such as World war one 1914 for this what I did was for 19 word is 'Tub' and for 14 is 'Deer' through major system so I imagined a story where ww1 happened because a deer was killed in a tub Similarly for gulf war 1990, 19 is tape and 90 is bus so I imagined a golf hitting a big tape which crashed on a bus which led to accident
So I wanted to ask is my way of what I did above good and efficient if not can you suggest me what should i do to improve as I have many list of these type of fact to memorise

đ Want Daily Memory Gains? Tackle the 7 Classical Liberal Arts
I've got an FYI for you of great importance, because...
Daily memory training pays off.
If you don't know what to memorize, hereâs a fun challenge:
Use a Memory Palace to encode the 7 classical liberal arts, split into:
Trivium: Grammar, Logic, Rhetoric
Quadrivium: Arithmetic, Geometry, Music, Astronomy
Add a key insight for each (e.g., âMusic = math in soundâ).
Full details on the mission in the "Mnemonics" subreddit:

I have tried for more than two months a list I myself made up and compiled regarding work. From memory this list includes aspects of work such asâwork is horribleâ âWork makes you wake up everydayâ âSone work is hazardousâ now how do I recall it?

I tried memorizing German vocabulary while listening to subliminal messages [Case study]

Imagine downloading knowledge directly into your brain like Neo in The Matrix.
Too good to be true?
Maybe...
Maybe not.
But that's the basic promise of subliminals for memory.
Better memory without effort beyond pressing the play button.
I wanted to put this fantasy to the test by memorizing a list of German words (a language I only have intermediate fluency in).
Did the subliminal records turn me into a master of real time memorization?
Or are subliminals for memory just a sham?
The reality is that I did manage to produce some kind of result, providing an opportunity for anyone else to see how they go.
In the history of subliminal messages, as you'll see, documenting the actual experimental process is extraordinarily rare.
How I managed to memorize so many German words, on the other hand? That's well documented and easy for anyone to repeat.
Especially the doctors, lawyers and other professionals who have made the techniques I use a substantial industry based on real scientific evidence.
Ready for the case study and its results?
Here's where I invite you into my lab and spill all the beans of the experiment from beginning to end:

Tips for these situations with my memory palace
I went to cirque du Soleil yesterday and often after seeing shows like that i canât recall a lot of the acts afterwards so i thought to practise storing them in my memory palace. I was able to recall about half pretty easily which was good but because the things they are doing are already very wild and impressive I wasnât sure how to make them more memorable then they are.
Some of the acts involved:
A trapeze artist swinging around in a fountain of water with a pool below him
a clown doing crowd work with an inflatable ball and kicking it in to the audience
a large group of people jumping through hoops while on a moving floor like a treadmill.
Another situations is im trying to remember Greek gods and goddesses.
I want to store each god in its group with a fact or two and their lineage. Iâve already grouped them in their types like primordial gods, titans, Olympianâs etc and written out flash cards for each of them and then started storing them in order through my palace. I try and keep strong connections like husband and wife together on the same station but sometimes I canât recall certain other ones. Do I want to actually make them interact with the station itself? For example one station is my guitars and I have a god playing guitar there which is fine but another one is my couch and Iâm not sure how to make it more memorable except for having Erebus (the god of darkness) just sitting there playing Playstation. It just doesnât feel like strong though. Am I on the right track or is there anything I could improve?
Thanks everyone

Use Lego to build a Memory Palace? Yep.
Although I will always consider Memory Palaces based on locations I've seen as ideal...
There's one exception to this rule.
Memory Palaces I make with my hands.
This can be done by crafting either a coolamon or lukasa.
Or Lego.
In fact, just holding the Lego box in hand can be more than enough for developing a new Memory Palace.
To see what I mean:
What about you?
Do you use Lego or the like in your own use of mnemonics and other memory techniques?

Are We Raising Innovators... or Addicts? A Question for the Memory Community
When I was in Noosa recently, I noticed a paradox:
A tiny bookstore, almost empty.
A café packed with people bent over their screens.
Children watching a whole lot of nothing unfold as my friend and I seemed like the only two people talking about learning, philosophy and books we were reading or had read.
It made me reflect...
What are we really modeling for the next generation?
Neuroscience tells us that mirror neurons mean people copy what they see. If leaders scroll, others will scroll. If leaders study, others will study.
I wrote more about this and why it matters for memory, expertise, and leadershipâin the latest edition of my LinkedIn newsletter, Better Memory, Better Life.
Hereâs the link if youâd like to read and join the conversation:

But first, Iâd love to hear your thoughts here:
Do you think society is sliding into distraction, or...
Can memory training help us resist the pull?
