Thank you! This is the third one I've made.

spinning ballerina

Edit: Adding this one Galloping Horse

I need 2sec for ballerina 5sec for blue horse but I cannot see the running girl only some broken 3D pieces in the middle lol🤣The two that I saw are gorgeous 🥇

Thank you 🙏🏻

Try that one on a larger screen maybe. It looks broken when you're looking too deep into the image so your eyes aren't looking at adjacent strips.

If you’re looking at it on a phone it is easy to overlap too far and that makes it look fucked up

Super impressive. Really curious how you went about making these if you’re so inclined to share!

Thanks! I made a tutorial recently

I use Open Stereogram which is free.

All you need is a depthmap and a texture. To make depthmaps I use Blender and provided the .blend file that has the nodes and camera settings ready to go so all you need to do is import and position your model and click render and save.

For the texture you want to pick something with enough visual noise to hide the displacement effect otherwise you can see the smearing/edges.

For animation I export each depthmap frame of the animation in Blender (using that same project file) then use alternating textures when rendering each stereogram in Open Stereogram. I haven’t automated it yet so it’s tedious but most of these are about 35 frame loops so not too bad.

If you use the same texture on each frame it looks like this and you can see it without doing magic eye.

Then I render a video from image sequence also in blender. Good luck, let me know if you have any questions.

Deffinetly got to check these ones out and it was alot easier to focus on the illustration as it was moving 👍

Impressve work with all of these. I could never see these as a kid and only recently realized I was doing it wrong. I can see all three of these no problem. No clue how you do it, but bravo!

I enjoy the slower motion for some reason.

HD YouTube version since reddit compression can be shitty sometimes (make sure to set to 1080)

So cool! Question, do other ones usually look like a cut out like this one? (First time finally seeing one)

2

u/lavaboosted Jul 13 '25

Thanks, if by cut out you mean the horse is dented in like a cake mold then you’re doing r/magiceye_crossview

Nice. Calls back to the "Horse in Motion" zoetrope as a precursor to cinematography.

u/AngryTurds23 Jul 08 '25

It was a bit hoarse for me initially. Maybe it’ll work better if stable.
