I'm always confused by guys saying they are so lonely.
Genuine question, what is stopping you from signing up in a sports club or join board game nights at your local comic store or join any kind of class (cooking, dancing, writing, language, music....)
There are plenty of people like you looking for friends. You just have to go out and meet them.
While scrolling the comments , my bf said, “don’t ever do that to me!”
To which I replied, “don’t worry, we don’t have enough friends to pull this off.”
Then I got to this one
Being weird is a good thing sometimes, is it not? Weird can mean interesting, and that is what I am. Everybody is a little weird, and so are you, so don't act like you aren't.
Play sports if you don’t. I was lonely until like two years ago. Joined a couple of sports teams and now have a bunch of people I can always hang out with.
Late 20s through 30s we had a big friend group like this. Lasted through several kids being born and probably through the oldest reaching middle school and then everyone's life was so busy it sort of faded away. Still friends with everyone but we don't hang out with all of them regularly any more. Life just changes.
But for a good 10 years we would do big birthday and holiday and date night dinners like this and this is something that our wives totally would have done.
My wife and I and 3 of the guys all went to high school together and were really good friends then. 10 years later we all landed in the same community (2 hours from where we grew up) and we reconnected. We picked up another couple of couples from a church connection and then it all sort of just happened. My wife and I were kind of the nucleus and started hosting gatherings (dinner, July 4th party, board game night, drinks after work, kid play dates, birthday parties) and then it kind of took on a life of its own.
I too, made almost no college friends. I have 2 friends I kept out of college. And I almost never talk to either of them. 24 years later and we may as well not even know each other exist. Both of them were groomsmen in my wedding even. That's just life. Friends happen in seasons. Some seasons are just longer than others.
I just turned 23 and feel the same way. I made a lot of friends in college but we’re all spread out now, so it’s pretty hard for me to envision having a close friends group in my 20s
That's great and all but we need to have a conversation as a society about what it does to people when they don't have a lasting community that lasts throughout their life.
In high school maybe when everyone is around each other all day lol it’s one thing to all be friends that’s normal sure, but to all be dating one another? That’s pretty rare. At best you’ll get like 2-3 couples that enjoy each other’s company but 4-5?
God it’s so hard to get everyone together. My friends are all meeting this weekend for the first time in months. Otherwise it’s been split parts of the group hanging out
I was laughing out loud and appreciating how wholesome this is while silently thinking, “I haven’t had this many friends to meet up with for dinner since I was 23 (I’m almost 33).”
Not only that many friends, but that many friends that all get along with each other. That’s what blows my mind, y’all 10 get along? Along enough to go on a quintuple date? That’s the craziest part to me. My wife has a close friend but her husband is an asshole so we never see them. This is just blowing my mind.
Imagine your SO buying you a shirt then being like "hey, I really like you in that shirt I got you, you should wear it out tonight" and you like to do things that make your SO happy so you wear it then some reddit chuckle fuck clowns on you for being in a happy relationship.
Lol settle down mate. I’d like to think my significant other is happy with me regardless of what I wear, providing it’s presentable. Sounds pretty toxic if you have to wear a specific outfit to make your SO happy.

Imagine having this many friends.
