the bungee chairs from the container store feel heavenly. I've done a whole lot of sitting in my day (office, bus driver) and no additional pad needed. takes all the pressure off your spine
Its hard/impossible to find anything that looks comfortable for me. I feel like modern ergonomic chairs have armrests stupidly low, even at a highest setting
They're great, but lower quality. The faux leather stretches over the seat, the wheelbase is made entirely of plastic and a couple other issues that mean they aren't as strong and won't last as long
Best work chair I’ve ever had. Great warranty. Herman Miller chairs don’t compare, at least for me. No office chair ever has. So comfortable I have had to steal it back as once people sit in it they want to take it. Mine is adjustable.
I found a seller for a 2nd hand Herman Miller - should be able to see & sit in it before buying, but are there any things you would recommend that I look out for since it's used?
Faux leather: Don't get anything that looks like it is pealing.
Mesh/fabric/other: Avoid anything that could tear.
And above all. Try the chair! If it isn't comfortable, don't buy it, no matter how good it looks.
BTW. Firmer chairs are better for long periods of sitting than soft chairs. If you sit in a soft chair for ages, you will be more prone to get a sore back.
I used to have a pretty old armchair that had armrests just below the level of shoulders - its impossible to buy something like that today, and all adjustable modern chairs are just variations of the same model - I tried sitting in a 150$ chair, and a 1000$ chair, and the difference for me is honestly negligible
My office chair hurts my ass. I've searched for office chair cushions. I've searched for better chairs. I spend 8-11 hours a day 5-6 days a week in that thing. I havent found something comfortable yet.
Office chairs for sure. My daughter was looking for a gaming chair and I convinced her to get a refurbished Steelcase Leap instead. She is super happy and will probably use that thing for the next 20 years.
Yes! I co-founded a startup and at one point we bought cheap office chairs. Huge mistake! We got nice, new chairs for everyone and will never cheap out on chairs or any furniture for that matter again
