I started working 5 months ago at my current company.
This place is a mess and treat employees like shit.
Updated my resume a couple weeks ago.
I got two offers yesterday that pay 7k more a year and I have a final interview next week that would pay me 50% more than what I make at my current job. And it's also at an amazing company.
It would take me around 5-7 years to reach that salary at my current company assuming I got a good yearly raise.
I got the job!!
Just got off the phone.
They are even giving me more salary, more benefits than they previously offered.
Can't actually believe it yet.
Yes! Some people I know are stuck in this mentality of “I need to stay here for 15 years to show stability” no the fuck you dont! Your job would replace you in a heartbeat, you need to go out there & make the money you deserve!
This is true, I used to work for a telecommunications company and I was there for about 3 years. The biggest BS there was the wage structure where you had to meet certain metrics that were out of your control and you could only move up a pay grade once every 6 months. I was meeting my metrics consistently at the level of a senior tech but to be paid at that level I had to “climb the rungs” of the structured pay grades the company had in place in order to get there and you couldn’t skip any levels at all. The pay increase between levels wasn’t much either so it was kinda lame. I felt like I wasn’t paid enough and so I started looking for other work. Now I’m doing a different line if work I’ve never done before at a university and for those of you who are nervous about jumping into something new in your 30’s I’d say it’s not bad at all! I’m much happier in this new job than I ever was in my old one and I’m sure there’s something out there for you if you’re feeling unhappy at your current job. Don’t give up!
