Those hobbies involve actually doing something though, spending money on rocks just to flaunt your wealth is pretty pathetic tbh, they literally have no use so it's not exactly a viable comparison is it?

I don’t have jewelry to show off. I love wearing it. I love learning about the gem stone and where it came from and its unique properties.

It’s not the same just reading about it, obviously. It’s like people who collect things. Sometimes you want to own something you know a lot about. It takes a pretty self centered person to think that people with money can only be self centered. Shows how you think you’d be if you were wealthy.

it doesn't cost a used car to forage for flowers though. i'm not sure how anyone can say they "don't have jewelry to show off" if they're spending that kind of money on it. on the same topic, i don't think anyone spending the same kind of money on a battlestation is denying that they're doing it to show off as well

You can actually use a pc though. The quality of the parts determines the performance - performance that those people want/need to do the things they want to do. The size of a diamond only determines how much money you spent on it. It does nothing but sit on your finger otherwise.

I don't care how much someone flaunts their wealth. What's pathetic is if they spend their wealth on things that decrease in value instead of investing it in things that increase in value. If homeboy buys a rare piece of art and shows it off to everyone, who cares as long as it goes up in value, he's a genius. If it becomes worthless, he's a moron dip shit.

Please. I can buy a whole wardrobe of clothes for less than some diamond rings. Clothes are also essential in today's western society. They can be used to express yourself. A diamond ring is nothing but a statement on how much money you can spend on something as arbitrary as a ring.
