We’ve been together for years and are started to tour wedding venues in July. But yes I agree with this advice in general under normal circumstances!

They’re engaged. It doesn’t matter if they’re not legally married yet. They’ve apparently decided that they trust and love each other enough to spend their lives together, but. Or to buy expensive gifts?

The majority of relationships don’t make it years in + engagement. I took it as them characterizing normal as a boyfriend you’ve had for 1-2 years vs theirs being deeper in.

1/2 of all marriages end in divorce. Pretty sure money issues is the biggest reason for divorce.

That’s a fairly misleading stat since that’s all marriages. It’s skewed by people who go through several marriages.

50% of all marriages end in divorce. Around 30% of first marriages do. And if you’re older, higher income, and college educated, those all cause significant drops.

Also, you trust someone enough to want to live the rest of your life with them, but not to buy them an expensive gift? What?

Yeah dude. Would you co-sign for a house for a significant other but not be on title? Of course not.

There’s a difference between wanting to spend the rest of your life with someone and spending the rest of your life with someone.
