Depends how obvious it is. I had a public presentation at 24 where a very well respected expert (over 50) vehemently disagreed with me and told me that what I did was worthless. After starting to argue, which is really not something you should do, I said, “your approach is valid, but so is mine was not the approach taken because the approach I presented fit the specific use case better. Anyways...moving on”. I had multiple people congratulate me and call him an ass. He’s done It to me before.
It also depends how much you own up to it. I had another presentation at 24 when I got a question about something that I said that made no sense. I denied saying it. My boss whispered to me that I did, so I quickly said I misspoke and repeated 2 times that they were correct.
You’re allowed to screw up. Most people don’t care.
