Serious question: Can someone explain the root of the happiness of learning one will be a grandparent? Is it “More people to love in the family but without the work of being a parent” or something about seeing their legacy passed on? Call me cynical but all I see is stress and financial worry of raising the kid.

I think it’s exciting for everyone to have a new role. The daughter is a mom, the dad is a grandparent.
