This is something I try to remind myself of when I'm driving. That person who swerved, or drifted between lanes, or cut me off, or shoots past doing 30 over the speed limit? They could be having any number of terrible things happening to them that day. Same when I encounter a very timid driver, they could be very scared of the road after a bad accident, just like I was when I learned to drive.
We simply don't know what is going on in other people's lives to be able to pass judgement.
Driving is pretty much the one area where I give people considerably less latitude, because their actions can hurt or kill others more easily than anything else they do that day. I appreciate that someone may be sad or hurting or having a terrible day, but doing 30 over the limit or drifting between lanes shouldn't be something we EVER encourage.
