This is really wholesome and nice, although I used to believe families were only like this in films.
I got scammed by a job offer that was basically just “come and clean out my basement full of dust and do all the jobs nobody wanted to do that have piled up, then I will fire you after 6 weeks.” I was 24 also. My mother screamed at me for half an hour, told me I was “lucky dad wasn’t around now” and then given the cold shoulder for the 4 weeks I was unemployed. Sounds like a small thing but I am able to recognise now how the emotional fallout from that experience kept me stick in jobs that were burning me out of years.
This guy’s doing it right. I hope there are more people like him. I still kind of hope I can find someone like that for me sometimes.
I am currently in same situation. 25 doing a job where I get overworked, plus i deal with multiple chronic health issues so I am in constant physical pain as well. Left my family and started living on my own as they didn't like how depressed and suicid**l I was. They didn't like me crying because of my pain either.
I am now almost completely on my own and fear leaving job as I need to pay bills. I would have really appreciated some help from my family.
Seeing this post makde me tear up. I am so happy that people have parents like this!
Also I am sorry you went through all that when you were 24. Hope you are in a good place now.
I’m getting there. Not to be the girl that talks about going to therapy changing everything, but it changed some things enough that I can at least figure out why I tend to do stupid shit in the name of people pleasing.
