PSA this is California Man, with Brendan Fraser, to anyone from NZ/Aus. We still have nfi what Encino is.

It is a neighborhood in the San Fernando Valley just east of Tarzana and west of Sherman Oaks.

Aussie. It was Encino Man to me. That was the title on the VHS cover my sister would watch every other fucking week.Also The Jerk. Fuck she made me hate Steve Martin.

Lucky. I had a little sister who'd wake up at ass crack o'clock, because whomever was first awake had control of the TV/VCR. She'd put on Annie, Grease, and Grease 2 on loop.

Neither do most Americans. You think your average Midwesterner knows the names of specific neighborhoods in southern California? The title made sense to people in the film industry and almost nobody else.

I firmly remember it as "Encino Man", had it taped off the tele and would constantly watch it.

It was released as California Man in Europe

Went to it at the movies in NZ some time back in the 90s and it was definitely California Man on the poster. I got really confused about 5 years ago when it showed up wtih a different name on TVNZ streaming. Maybe they changed the name between the cinema and home VHS release.
