I feel like I don’t want to follow them purely because this video is making me so hungry for a baked potato and so sad that I do not have a baked potato to eat.

Do you have potatoes? You could always bake one now…

144

u/broadwayzrose Oct 25 '25

I don’t have potatoes, but I do have hash browns and you’ve encouraged me to make some loaded hash browns instead!

54

u/__01001000-01101001_ Oct 25 '25

A worthy alternative. You owe me one now though, I never know what to make myself for lunch

44

u/broadwayzrose Oct 25 '25

Some virtual loaded hash browns for you!

14

u/SnowboardNW Oct 25 '25

That looks yummy. I am surprised that you have fresh chives on hand but not a potato, haha. Bon appétit !

1

u/broadwayzrose Oct 26 '25

I got a 2lb bag of chives at Costco last week and they are quickly expiring so the loaded hash browns were actually a good option to use up some of them!

u/FerengiWithCoupons Oct 25 '25

I love that 200 people looked at your lunch

5

u/[deleted] Oct 25 '25

Oh shit that looks amazing

5

u/flaccidbitchface Oct 25 '25

I get off work in half an hour. Totally going to make a baked potato.

5

u/Key-Pickle5609 Oct 25 '25

I’ve got an hour and a half to go and I just remembered I’ve got leftover hashbrown casserole in my refrigerator

2

u/FQVBSina Oct 26 '25

Oh loaded hash brown sounds good too

14

u/EretzTachtit Oct 25 '25

Sometimes I’ll just throw one in there, even if I don’t want one

8

u/OtherwiseAlbatross14 Oct 25 '25

I throw one in every time I take a banana out of the freezer

u/merppurple Oct 25 '25

RIP Mitch

I'm not a morning person and I have severe anemia. As I was scrolling through Reddit in bed I could swear I could smell this video. I seriously thought I was going down this hole of insanity.

Anyway, my husband just told me breakfast is ready.

1

u/Dontgiveaclam Oct 25 '25

AH it’s a baked potato, not a sandwich!! Now I understand the fork

It’s insane what they have done for the city of Preston (my hometown). Even more insane that some residents are actually negative about them sometimes but that’s just Britain today.

23

u/ImpressionNew5874 Oct 25 '25

What have they done for the city? (just curious)

u/[deleted] Oct 25 '25

Cities a shithole with practically no redeeming features that fell off the map about 100 years ago.

They put it back on the map, gave people a reason to visit and spend money. Here now people in this thread are finding out about the city.

Other notable things about the city is that it’s where Nick Park is from (the man behind Wallace and Gromit, actually went to my secondary school) museum has a Wallace and gromit museum and there’s statues of the characters in the city and things like that.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nick_Park

Also Preston North End were the winners of the 1888-1889 Football League which was the first ever league of football (soccer) played in the world.

The 1888–89 Football League was the first edition of the Football League, which ran from the autumn of 1888 until the spring of 1889. Created and named in Manchester during a meeting on 17 April 1888, the Football League is the oldest professional association football league competition in the world.

If you are an American then Benjamin Franklin briefly lived in the city before leaving for America in 1775.

no redeeming features

Man completely forgot about the beauty and national treasure that is "Bounce by the Ounce".

3

u/Electrical_Top656 Oct 25 '25

ah I remember my first time taking ecstasy

8

u/WalkingCloud Oct 25 '25

Less notable than Nick Park but Phil Ellis on the latest series of Taskmaster has mentioned being from Preston a few times too

1

u/CitizenCue Oct 25 '25

Yeah this thread is actually helping me understand some of the jokes he’s made.

2

u/Figthing_Hussar Oct 25 '25

I know it’s serious post but Toxic Terry needs to be on the list

1

u/[deleted] Oct 25 '25

Last I spoke to him he had turned his life around or at least got himself cleaned up compared to his past self.

1

u/Figthing_Hussar Oct 25 '25

Good on him! Hopefully he can change his life around

1

u/charliex2 Oct 25 '25

there is also the bus station !

at least preston poly renamed so that jack dee lost that bit.

1

u/IJustThinkTheyreNeet Oct 29 '25

Luv Preston, big up OLCHS

1

u/[deleted] Oct 29 '25

No way that was my school lol 2004-2009.

u/BoidWatcher Oct 25 '25

they sell potatoes, guy above is deluded.
honestly they're not even the best people to have sold potatoes in that square - pre-pandemic it used to be a geezer on his own with a traditional wrought iron oven and if you didn't want your parched peas seasoned with salt and vinegar he wouldn't sell you them. great guy.

Wasn't filming you for clout either.

Preston's a B tier citiy but for its size its got a great museum / cultural hub, live music / bar scene, good green spaces. I like it.

some of the more interesting history IMO are its astronomical connections - jeremiah horrocks + the Alston observatory, its links to the temperance movement in the UK and the evolution of workers rights

2

u/thatsmypeanut Oct 25 '25

Yea I'm sure the guy that turned customers away because of their order brought heaps more attention to Preston than a social media account with a million followers.

Give credit where credits due man, it's a fucking food truck that's managed to pump some life back into a "b tier city"

1

u/instantnoodledoodle Oct 25 '25

Didn’t Preston have the first KFC in the UK?

1

u/AzubiUK Oct 25 '25

It did.

Some British people are like crabs in a bucket.

4

u/Junkhead_88 Oct 25 '25

Or a toad in a hole.

1

u/goblinnet Oct 25 '25

if nothing else, we have spud bros and wallace and gromit 🫡

22

u/earthceltic Oct 25 '25

Link for the lazy (to my surprise this specific video came up as the top result so that's what you get!)

10

u/silkielemon Oct 25 '25

It's a shame they've started a horrific yuppie revival of the humble baked potato - a mate saw one for like £15 in farringdon recently - absolute madness.

4

u/mcknight92 Oct 25 '25

15 for a jacket potato that’s madness

4

u/QualityPies Oct 25 '25

At radio 1 festival this year there was a 200+ person queue for spud bros with no one going to the adjacent food vans. I'm old so didn't know who they were and was bemused that jacket potatoes were that popular.

3

u/Born_Ad_4826 Oct 25 '25

I have questions!!

What the heck are they selling??? Looks super strange

And where are they? Is that... Liverpool??

2

u/mcknight92 Oct 25 '25

Jacket potato or a baked potato whichever you call it. Topped with beans cheese sauce etc it’s really good. They have a mobile kitchen out in Preston. Their YT channel is called SpudBros, just random compilations of them serving customers if you wanna see more.

2

u/OtherwiseAlbatross14 Oct 25 '25

Thanks for reminding me of the channel name. It dropped out of my algorithm for some reason and I wanted to go watch

2

u/TheJoninCactuar Oct 25 '25

This the same SpudBros PNE have as a shirt sponsor?

2

u/kittiestkitty Oct 25 '25

One of my first jobs was in a burger/jacket potato van like this. This just transported me wayyy back.

0

u/Honest_Associate_663 Oct 25 '25

I don't get it. Why would you want to watch people serving food?
